Gain the #AgileEdge with Vodafone for Defence

Supporting defence in the Information Age

The Defence sector in the UK is faced with the challenge of embracing the advances of the Information Age. This transition means exploiting the best of what already exists in the Defence sector, but also leveraging proven technologies from wider industries to overcome challenges. This is where we have the edge.

Vodafone’s strategy helps to ensure that Defence can exploit proven technologies in a way that allows true integration into existing systems, processes and data. This enables Defence to meet the changing digital landscape – providing enhanced security and securing advantage.

IoT.nxt

Smart buildings, connected assets and many ecosystems managed from a single platform.

IoT.nxt is a platform that uses enhanced technology to enable a truly interconnected world, helping to create smart organisations, buildings, factories and cities of the future. A key aspect of this technology is the agnostic integration capability, which brings together data and control from various IoT solutions, including applications and sensors.

5G & Vodafone Mobile Private Networks

The power of 5G opens up a host of other tools within the network, one of which is Vodafone Mobile Private Networks (MPN), a mini-5G network built to cover aspecific location and deliver better service with more control and security. MPN and Edge Computing can revolutionise how you do business by bringing the network and cloud closer to the devices that need it. It supports your business-critical services, with a local network on your premises – meaning more reliability, more capacity, and fast local processing capability with integrated Edge Computing. With guaranteed bandwidth, ultra-low latency and protected data flow, MPN and Edge Computing can unlock new possibilities for digital businesses.

Digital Barriers

Vodafone partners with Digital Barriers to provide innovative safety and security solutions to help organisations protect both people and places. The unique video transmission technology means customers can connect video streams from multiple devices including CCTV cameras, body-worn cameras, apps and other mobile assets into a single secure point. By combining edge-intelligent products with bandwidth friendly real-time video streaming over both fixed and cellular networks, Digital Barriers help customers react to events live and as they happen – even when network conditions are poor.

5G & Proximie

Vodafone has teamed up with Proximie, a global technology platform, to support virtual surgical collaboration. Clinicians and surgeons can ‘scrub in’ to an operating room from virtually anywhere in the world to support and train, using the power of Vodafone 5G. By empowering clinicians to share their skills in real-time, the platform can reduce variation in care and help ensure every patient receives the best healthcare every time.

Finding new ways to digitise Defence

At Vodafone, we’ve taken what we’ve learned about digital transformation and we’re committing to partnering with organisations to challenge the status quo, and digitise fixed environments, industrial space and deployed space to help Defence gain the edge. We’re realising this by focusing on four key areas:

Vodafone’s range of defence-ready solutions

Defence has historically been hampered by numerous challenges, including flexible operations and the ability to scale at speed. Information services within the defence sector have lacked the level of integration and interoperability required to enable a truly joined up capability across operations in complex environments.

It’s imperative for organisations operating in the Defence sector to be able to connect to highly available and resilient fixed or mobile networks. They also need to ensure they can access services that enable data capture and consumption on the ground to give them a real-time competitive advantage, without compromising security and safety.

Vodafone is the trusted supplier fit to help defence organisations across the UK transform. With our network that scales at speed, we’re a major supplier for Britain’s critical national infrastructure and our portfolio, including solutions from Unified Comms, edge computing to cloud and IoT, is ready to support defence organisations in gaining the information advantage and capturing data in real time with low latency, regardless of the complexity of the operating environment.

Future-ready and agile innovation, together

Speed of innovation and adoption should no longer hamper the defence sector. Ready off-the-shelf innovation and the latest technologies to support digital transformation are paramount for a world-class military.

We’re digitising fixed environments, industrial space and deployed space with information-led business transformation, backed up by our applied and agile innovation. Our customers can benefit from our 5G network, IoT and MPN technology, amongst a range of other innovative solutions and collaboration with global tech vendors including AWS, Google, Microsoft and Cisco.

We’re also making it as easy as possible to choose Vodafone. Our flexible agreements and comprehensive portfolio are designed to deliver commercial and competitive advantage for any defence organisation, without the rigidity of contracts familiar to other providers.
