NHS Western Isles is a Ready Organisation
For the Scottish healthcare provider, being ready means giving patients more quality time and carrying out more home visits thanks to Vodafone Digital Pens.
NHS Western Isles covers an island group located 40 miles off the northwest coast of Scotland, with its remote geography and ageing population presenting a unique challenge.
They were looking to introduce a more efficient way of gathering, processing and distributing information and data from patient appointments, and to reduce time spent travelling to appointments.
It chose to equip its nurses with Vodafone Digital Pens, which securely transfer data directly to a smartphone and then to a main server. This means nurses no longer need to write up their notes, so they can spend more time with patients and carry out around 5,000 additional visits a year.
“Using the mobile app means we spend less time worrying about the administration of care and focus on the delivery of care, and the quality of time Care Workers get to spend with the service users.”
