Which one is best for you?
If you’re looking to choose between the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S8+, you’ll need to balance screen size against the latest features. Both have a curved, super AMOLED screen, but the S8+ screen is slightly larger, while the Galaxy S9 has some exciting new features and upgrades.
For starters, Galaxy have ‘re-imagined’ the camera for the Galaxy S9, and it now has a variable aperture. That can be used to let in more light, so is excellent for low light situations.
The S9 also has face recognition, which works together with iris recognition to unlock your phone more quickly. If you prefer to use fingerprint, the scanner has been moved to sit below the rear camera, making it easier to find than on the S8+.
Face recognition also lets you create your own AR emojis. Just capture your face and then map it onto a 3D avatar. Customise it, change the hair colour and outfit – the digital you can then read out voice messages, feature in GIF emojis and much more.
So if you’re after a phone with all the latest features, the S9 is the one to go for. But if you’re looking for a large-screen phone with all the sophistication you’d expect from Samsung’s flagship range, the S8+ is a great choice, too.
