Using your 3G phone to connect a laptop or netbook to the internet is called tethering. If you're on a pay monthly price plan and have the right sort of phone, you might be able to use it for tethering.
1. Connect your phone to your computer
Connect via Bluetooth, or with a USB cable (or a special cable that comes with your phone). You might also need to change your phone's settings – look in your user manual for details.
2. Mobile internet included in your price plan
Not sure if your price plan includes mobile internet? Just contact our Customer Services team or visit your nearest Vodafone store.
3. Buy a tethering pack
If you want to use your mobile phone for tethering, it’s worth buying a Via your phone plus tethering pack rather than a web pack. It can save you money, as tethering can use up web data much more quickly on your phone than browsing.
£15 a month
For £15 a month you get 2GB of UK data. You can use this for voice calls (Skype, Google, Talk, etc) as well as tethering. If you go over, it’s £15 for each 1GB extra.
It's easy to add the tethering pack to your price plan. First, make sure you've either got mobile internet as part of your price plan or have one of our web packs. Then call 191 from your Vodafone mobile - or visit your nearest Vodafone store.
