8 looks great

While Samsung remain tight-lipped about just what the latest Galaxy series will offer, the rumour mill is already grinding out plenty of possible teasers.

Here are 8 of the most exciting rumours so far.

1. Screen stealer

Bigger infinity screens than the S7 series may be on the cards – one at 5.8-inch and another at an eye-popping 6.2-inches.

‘Samsung Galaxy S8 may give everyone what they want: a bigger screen without making the phone dimensions any larger. Is it finally happening?’ (Source: Tech Radar)

2. 4K for you?

4K or Quad HD resolution could be one stand-out feature, alongside super wide 18.5:9 aspect ratio for jaw-dropping visuals.

‘4K resolutions in phones are the future...whether it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S8 remains to be seen. It could still arrive on the bigger 6.2-inch phone to help differentiate the two sizes.’ (Source: Tech Radar)

3. Selfie control

Double selfie cameras may be included, making fun photography even easier.

‘SAMSUNG fans are in a frenzy over these “leaked” smartphone pictures. If legitimate, they reveal not only the hotly tipped infinity screen and absent home button, but the possible addition of a SECOND selfie camera, according to internet rumours.’ (Source: The Sun)

4. Say Hello to Bixby

A new digital assistant double act is rumoured for voice recognition and hands-free use: one called Bixby and the other Samsung Hello.

“Recent reports say that the Samsung flagship will be carrying a voice assistant software in the form of Bixby, which has been developed by the same team that created Apple's Siri. Bixby may be accompanied by another A.I., as Samsung has filed a trademark for Samsung Hello in the European Intellectual Property Office.’ (Source: Tech Times)

5. Print protection, remixed

Rumours are clashing all over the shop when it comes to the new Galaxy’s fingerprint scanning security.

‘The GS8's overall design appears to be an evolution of what we've seen from the GS7 and Note 7, with the biggest change being the relocation of the fingerprint scanner from the front to the back panel, allowing for a larger display with minimal bezels.’ (Source: Android Central)

‘The Galaxy S8 could toss out its whole home button - including the fingerprint reader - and use an optical sensor that lives beneath the display.’ (Source: CNET)

6. The curve returns

The new Galaxy looks likely to carry forward the S7 range’s distinctive curved screen, according to various sources.

‘The photos of the highly-anticipated device depict a curved edge-to-edge screen, which means the South Korean firm has tossed out the physical home button.’ (Source: Mail Online)

7. Stylus sensation?

Could a Note 7-style stylus be teed up for the new Galaxy arrival, making it easier to navigate the larger screen and grab the attention of business customers?

‘Fortunately, Samsung itself looks set to fill the void, with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S8 reportedly set to play nice with the firm’s S-Pen accessory.

That’s according to claims out of the Chinese supply chain at least, with the S8’s screen seemingly set to be made to play nice with the business-friendly add-on.’ (Source: Trusted Reviews)

8. Eye phone?

You might be scanning more than fingerprints with the new Galaxy – some rumours have suggested the device will incorporate iris-scanning technology for even stronger security.

‘We could see an iris scanner on the phone, as the company has stuck one on the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the feature has since been rumored for the Galaxy S8 more than once.’ (Source: Tech Radar)
