FAQs – UK Graduate Programme - Vodafone

Frequently Asked Questions

Applying

  • Do I need a work permit to apply?

We're unable to employ anyone who doesn't have the right to work in the UK. We're also unable to apply for work permits for individual jobs until all UK and European Economic Area employment sources have been exhausted. If you need any more information on this, please visit the Home Office website. If you are unable to get a work permit take a look at Vodafone Global Careers for opportunities in your own country.

  • I was educated outside of the UK - can I still apply?

Yes. Make sure you state your exact qualifications on your CV before you upload it. Also ensure that your qualifications are equivalent to a 2:1 in an undergraduate degree (in any subject) or a merit in a postgraduate qualification.

  • Will I get any feedback during the application process?

We'll provide you with feedback if you attend an Experience Day - whether you're successful or not. Unfortunately, we can't provide feedback if you don't make it to an Experience Day, simply due to the volume of applications we receive.

  • The Experience Day

  • What should I wear to the Experience Day?

Smart business dress - no t-shirts, sports tops or trainers.

  • Do I need to bring anything with me to the Experience Day?

Yes. Bring along your passport so we can take a copy. If you're not a UK national bring along evidence that you have a valid work permit or visa.

  • If I attend an Experience Day when will I hear if I've been successful?

We'll let you know as soon as we can, usually within a week.

  • Successful candidates

  • Where will I be if I'm successful?

For stage 1, it kicks off with two months in one of our stores, near to your UK home, with one of our experienced store managers so you'll find out just how customer obsessed we are.

For stages 2 and 3 you could be based at different locations and you'll need to be available to move countrywide to complete the programme.

Our current locations include Newbury, Newark, Stoke-on-Trent and nearly 400 stores in UK towns and cities.

  • How soon will I hear if I've been successful after each stage?

Within a week. During particularly busy periods it may be slightly longer, but we'll always let you know in advance.

  • Will you want employment references if I'm offered a place?

Yes. You'll go through a number of verification tests, covering current and previous employment, education, residency, and relevant professional qualifications. If the results of these don't add up with what you've told us. we'll have to take back our offer.

  • The Graduate role

  • Is this a 9-5 job?

No because our customers never sleep, you'll be asked to work a range of hours for your roles. In our contact centres and retail stores, you could be rostered to work on any day of the week and on shifts during any hour of the day to best support our customers.

  • Where am I likely to be working?

You could be working at our Headquarters in Newbury, at one of our main call centres (Stoke-on- Trent or Newark), in-store or out on the road with one of our sales teams.

  • What happens if I have to move to do my roles?

If you have to move to a new location for the 2nd or 3rd stages of the programme, we'll give you at least four weeks' notice. You'll be expected to arrange and fund your own travel and accommodation. If during your day-to-day role you have to travel to another site, you'll be able to claim travel expenses.

  • Can I apply for other roles in Vodafone while I'm on the graduate programme?

No, you won't be able to apply for other roles in Vodafone whilst you are on the Graduate Programme.
