Using your phone abroad

From 1 July 2012, we're introducing new rates for customers who use our services when they're in Europe.

The new rates for calling and texting are cheaper than before - but we're introducing a new system of charging for mobile internet in line with European regulations.

You'll be automatically switched to these new rates - unless you are opted in to Vodafone Passport, in which case your call rates will remain the same.

The new European rates

You're currently a frequent user of mobile internet when you're abroad.

We advise you to look closely at the new rates and consider how they will affect how you use our services when you're abroad.

We think our new Vodafone EuroTraveller service is a great solution if you like to use mobile internet abroad.

Why switch to Vodafone EuroTraveller?

Vodafone EuroTraveller allows you to take your UK price plan to Europe for just £3 a day. That's any minutes, texts or mobile internet you currently receive in the UK (but no extras).

It's a great choice for customers who, like yourself, enjoy the freedom of frequently using mobile internet when abroad.

You can opt in to Vodafone EuroTraveller by calling 5555. By doing this, you'll opt out of Vodafone Data Traveller.

If you're having any problems adding EuroTraveller by calling 5555, you'll automatically be put through to someone who can help you (if you're calling between 8am and 8pm).

If you're opted in to Vodafone Passport

Vodafone Passport will shortly be coming to an end – we'll be in touch soon to let you know more.

However, you are already able to opt out of Vodafone Passport and opt in to Vodafone EuroTraveller.

If you'd like to do this, please call 5555. If you opt out of Vodafone Passport, you will not be able to opt back in to the service.

Using mobile internet abroad - spend cap

If you opt in to Vodafone EuroTraveller, the spend cap for our Europe Zone (explained below) will not affect you. This is because Vodafone EuroTraveller allows you to take your UK price plan to our Europe Zone.
However, as you're not currently on Vodafone EuroTraveller and to help you have greater control over using mobile internet on your phone when you're abroad, you'll automatically have the following monthly spend caps (unless you choose to opt out).

You will receive notifications when you use 80% and 100% of the monthly cap. Once you've reached the cap, you won't be able to use mobile internet abroad for the rest of the monthly billing period, unless you choose to opt out of the cap.
