P smart vs Galaxy S8
Which phone is best for you?
2017’s Galaxy S8 was a feature-packed marvel that garnered rave reviews for its dazzling curved-edge Super AMOLED screen and slick performance. The mid-range P smart may not quite reach those dizzy heights, but as mid-range smartphones go, it packs a punch – with a 16+2-megapixel dual camera, Plexiglas construction and heavy-duty 3400 mAh battery.
The Samsung has a smaller battery, but more RAM, giving it more power to run games and stream movies smoothly. Its user-friendly 12-megapixel camera takes cracking photos, and a customisable Pro mode gives you complete control over your shots.
Typically for Huawei, the P smart’s camera is excellent – a dual lens 13+2-megapixel Leica snapper which gives great results, even in low light. For the 2019 model, Huawei have also trialled their new “dewdrop” notch to make the most of the LCD display.
As a flagship, you would expect the Samsung to come out on top, and it does. But the P smart shows just how far phone tech has advanced in just a couple of years – and it’s very well equipped for its modest price.
