P20 Pro vs Galaxy S8 Plus

Which one is best for you?

The Galaxy S8+ was a world-beating phone on its release in 2017, boasting a fantastic screen and plenty of power to run top-level tech. Coming just a year later, Huawei’s P20 Pro is a comparable phone with a superb Leica triple camera.

The Huawei shades the Samsung in terms of memory, with 128GB of internal storage, compared to the S8+’s 64GB. The Samsung does have a microSD slot, however – so you can bump the storage up another 512GB. As ever, Samsung invested heavily in their screen technology, with an eye-popping Super AMOLED display that stretches to the edges of the curved screen.

The P20 Pro has a very good OLED screen too, but where the P20 Pro really shines is in its 40+20+8-megapixel triple camera array, which uses Huawei’s excellent AI to create professional looking shots with minimal effort. The S8+’s 12-megapixel single lens rear camera takes excellent photos, especially in low light, but the Huawei wins out in the camera stakes.

If you’re after a top-end Android smartphone, either of these excellent devices will surely fit the bill. The P20 Pro benefits from a year of advances in tech, and has a best-in-class camera, but the Samsung’s screen is amazing for gaming and movies.
