The Huawei P30 is a high-end release, packed with all the tech that 2019 has to offer. As such, it’s a more feature-packed phone than 2018’s mid-range Mate 20 lite, but with a price tag to match.
The camera is an obvious point of difference – the stunning 40+16+8-megapixel Leica snapper on the P30 is one of the finest cameras on a phone, bested only by its big sibling, the P30 Pro. That said, the Mate 20 lite sports a perfectly good 20+2-megapixel camera which is better than almost anything else you’ll find at its mid-range price point.
Both phones benefit from large batteries, although the P30 also offers SuperCharge, so you can charge your P30’s 3650 mAh battery up to 60% in 30 minutes. The P30 has more power under the hood too, with 6GB of RAM to the Mate20 lite’s 4GB, and an updated Kirin AI chipset.
The Mate 20 lite is a cracking phone for the money, and will handle pretty much anything you might throw at it. But the P30 represents the next generation of smartphones, and if you want all the bells and whistles, then it may be the phone for you.
