Frequently asked questions

PAC and STAC are two different types of switching codes that let you move from one mobile network to another.

An INFO request tells you how much you’ll need to pay to end your Pay monthly contract today – or how much credit you’ll currently lose if you’re on Pay as you go. Plus details of any other services that will be impacted when you switch.

Please note: It’s up to you to give your PAC or STAC code to your new network to make your switch happen.

Switching codes

PAC (Porting authorisation code)
Use a PAC to cancel your contract with your current network and bring your mobile number with you to your new provider.

STAC (Service termination authorisation code)
Use a STAC to cancel your contract with your current network and get a new mobile number from your new network provider.

INFO code
Use an INFO code to find out:

• Pay monthly account: Your early termination fee (ETF), if any – the cost of leaving your current network if you’re still in contract. Plus details of any other services that will be impacted if you switch.
• Pay as you go account: How much credit you’ll currently lose if you switch.

PAC and STAC codes last for 30 days before they expire – but you can always ask for another one if you run out of time.

Leaving us for another mobile network might affect any other Vodafone services you’re using.

V by Vodafone

If you use your PAC or STAC code, you will lose service and data on the device connected to your V by Vodafone account at the end of your billing period. To keep using your device, please re-register your device in the V by Vodafone app.

Please note: Once you re-register, all of your data will be deleted and you’ll need to set up your device as new – this will include a credit check.

To learn more, please see our V by Vodafone FAQ

Vodafone OneNumber

If you have a multi-SIM device like an Apple Watch that you use with OneNumber, please call us on 191 free from your Vodafone mobile when you switch.

You'll need to attach your multi-SIM devices to another mobile number – check the instructions provided by the manufacturer to find out how. Also, please be aware you may need to pay extra leaving costs when you switch.

To learn more, please see our OneNumber FAQs

Vodafone Entertainment

If you have a free entertainment pack with us including Amazon Prime Video, Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV or a NOW TV Entertainment Pass this will be cancelled when you switch network.

Vodafone Red Sharer

If you’re a leader on a Red Sharer account, please phone us before you switch network – you’ll need to restructure your account. If you don’t your switch and future bills may be impacted.

Charge to Bill

If you pay for any products using Charge to Bill, these will stop being charged to your monthly bill when you switch network. You’ll need to bring them over to your new contract if you want to keep them.

We’re sorry you’re thinking of leaving. If there’s something we can do to make things better, please start a Live Chat and speak to one of our advisers.

We’re sorry you’re leaving us. You’ll need to notify us that you want to cancel your account if you haven’t already done so.

You’ll continue to be billed up to your disconnection date and your final bill could be a combination of the below:

1. Line rental for the portion of the month you used your device before your disconnection date
2. Out-of-plan usage
3. Any Extras (such as a recurring Data Extra)
4. Early exit fees

The 22-day rule

If you switch to another network at least 22 days before your normal billing date that month, you’ll get your final bill on your normal billing date.

If you switch to another network any later, you’ll get your final bill 22 days after you switch.

We bill your usage retrospectively, so if you’ve recently been abroad, it could take up to two months for roaming charges to be billed after you’ve disconnected.

Please don't cancel your Direct Debit. Once your mobile number is disconnected we won't continue to charge you, but we need a direct debit in place to take any final payments when they’re due.

You can continue to check your bills up to six months after you’ve cancelled. Please set up an alternative contact number in My Vodafone to do so.
