Our Trade-in Guarantee is available when buying a new phone, allowing you to get an instant, guaranteed value for your phone, using the Trade-in Tool.


If you’ve already bought a phone, you can still sell your old phone

If you’re struggling to use the Trade-in Tool and would like some help, you can visit us in store and one of our staff members will run the checks for you.


If you can't use the Trade-in Tool on your phone because it can't use the My Vodafone app or it isn't one of our eligible phones, you won't be able to benefit from our Trade-in Guarantee. However, you’ll still be able to sell your old phone

When we're running a Trade-in Bonus offer, you may be able to get an additional bonus on top your phone’s trade-in value when you buy a new phone. Eligibility for the bonus will depend on which phone you're trading in and which new phone you're buying. Your trade-in value (including any bonus) will be redeemed using the same payment method.

You've got three options:


Towards a current Phone Plan
We’ll put your trade-in credit towards your current Phone Plan, reducing the remaining balance. We’ll apply your trade-in credit within five working days of receiving your phone at our warehouse.

Account credit
Your trade-in credit will be added to your Vodafone account and can be used towards future bills or a Device Plan.  We’ll apply your trade-in credit within five working days of receiving your phone at our warehouse.


Monthly airtime saving
Your trade-in credit will be applied instantly as a monthly saving on your new Airtime Plan, reducing your monthly cost.

Here’s a list of things you should do before you trade in:


• Back up anything important before erasing your phone’s data

• Check that you’ve removed your SIM card and memory card

• Remove any phone cases or screen protectors

• Take pictures of your phone, so you have proof of the condition it was in

• Turn off Find My iPhone if you have an iPhone or remove your Google account if you have a Samsung phone. See our device guides to find out how to do this.

It’s unlikely that your phone will be rejected if it’s in good working condition and you answered the questions on it’s condition honestly. If damage is detected through our Trade-In diagnostics, your guaranteed value will be lowered.



If we can’t accept your phone, we’ll send it back to you and cancel the payment. More information on devices we’ll reject

Your phone will need to be in good working condition to be eligible for a trade-in. This includes turning on the device, having no more than three scratches or cracks, and having a fully functional touchscreen.


If your phone has any damage, such as screen or water damage, your price will be less than the value shown at the start of the trade-in process. For a full list of our criteria, see our terms and conditions


Whilst we don’t accept broken phones for trade-in, you can sell it to us alongside your other devices like your smartwatch or tablet. Sell my devices

At the checkout we ask how you'd like to send your phone to us. You can either drop it off in store or to a DPD location using a prepaid returns pack.

Dropping it off in store:

• Bring your eligible phone with you to your local store within 14 days of your new Airtime Plan starting

• Provided your phone passes our checks, we’ll transfer your trade-in credit


Send using a prepaid returns pack:

• We'll send a returns pack with a prepaid DPD label to your address

• Put your phone inside, seal it, and take it to a DPD drop off location within 14 days of your new Airtime Plan starting

You can only trade in one phone at a time using our Trade-in Guarantee. If you have another phone, you can sell it for cash

Yes, we accept Huawei phones for trade-in.
