Apple’s newest devices are finally here. Here’s everything you need to know about the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPad 10.2 and Apple Watch Series 5.
It’s the day that tech fans eagerly await every year: when the speculation stops, and we finally know just what Apple has in store for us with its new and improved line-up. And it’s fair to say that this year, yet again, we were thrilled by what was unveiled, with three new handsets and a new Apple Watch all coming our way in the coming months.
Even better: the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, and Apple Watch Series 5 are available to order on Vodafone’s three new unlimited data plans – the perfect partner for the new generation iPhone. Unlike other networks, our Unlimited Max Plans offer roaming in 77 destinations including the USA. And new for iPhone, these plans include unlimited MMS for just £2.50 per month – the only offer of its kind from a major operator.
So, what do each of the new devices have in store for us? We take a look at the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPad 10.2 and Apple Watch Series 5 to see just what Apple has up its sleeve for the year ahead…
iPhone 11
The iPhone 11 is the stunning follow-up to last year’s XR, and while it shares many similarities with that model, it’s the differences that stand out. Featuring an all-new glass and aluminium chassis, with improved water resistance and overall durability, this is a handset that’s got steel along with style.
Speaking of style, the iPhone 11 comes in six colours: Red, White, Black, Yellow, Purple, and Green, with the latter two brand-new for 2019. As for display, the iPhone 11 retains the XR’s still-astounding 6.1-inch Liquid Retina HD display with 1792 x 828 resolution – perfect for all your entertainment needs.
For those scouring the rumour mill in the build-up to launch, you’ll be keeping a close eye on the number of lenses that the iPhone 11 boasts, and this is another area of improvement for Apple’s latest flagship device. The new setup boasts a new dual-lens camera (an upgrade on its predecessor’s single lens), with 12MP wide-and ultra-wide lenses for you to take some unbelievable new snaps.
If you’re eager to take your photography skills to the next level, iPhone 11 offers a brand new camera interface, a new Night Mode so you can go to golden hour and beyond, while the Portrait mode has been upgraded to include pets, objects and more – so you can involve your dog, instead of snapping solo.
Finally – expect to hear the word ‘slofies’ a lot in the coming months. The iPhone’s 11 front-facing camera supports 120 fps slo-mo video, which means you can now take slo-mo selfies. What’s not to love?
And we’re still only just scratching the surface of what the iPhone 11 offers – from the fastest-ever A13 Bionic chip, to its longer lasting battery, Apple’s new flagship does not disappoint.
Customers who trade in their old device can pick up a new iPhone 11 with unlimited data from £45 per month (£29 upfront cost).
iPhone 11 Pro
The iPhone 11 Pro boasts a rear triple-lens setup, and yes, this is likely the best iPhone yet for those looking to create stunning content. Each of the three lenses host 12MP sensors, with the standard and ultra-wide options bolstered by the presence of a 2x optical zoom lens. Put simply: there’s something for everyone.
While the additional lens offers an array of options for keen photographers, arguably the most exciting news regarding the iPhone 11 Pro’s camera was that it uses artificial intelligence to take a photo.
Powered by the neural engine (hardware that sits inside the A13 Bionic chip), the phone snaps eight images before you actually hit the camera button, and then compares the final image with the eight previous images to compile the best aspects of each photo into one, outstanding snap. Dubbed “deep fusion”, you can expect your photo quality to go up, even if you don’t have the eye.
While this is a handset perfect for making content, it’s also perfect for consuming it, too. Apple has dubbed iPhone 11 Pro the ‘fastest smartphone on the market’, again pointing to that A13 chipset. For gamers, this is incredible news, with unparalleled performance meaning you can expect the most seamless experience yet.
This is helped, too, by the superb screen, which comes in either 5.8 or 6.5 inches. Each size boasts a Super Retina XDR Display so, whether you’re streaming your favourite show, or blasting away baddies in that great new game, you can be sure the visuals will pop.
The iPhone 11 Pro is available with unlimited data from £57 per month (£49 upfront cost) when you trade in your old device.
iPhone 11 Pro Max
For those who want an unbelievable cinematic experience on their handset, the big and beautiful iPhone 11 Pro Max has exactly what you need. Its mammoth 6.5-inch screen is perfect for playing games and watching your favourite films and shows, and its pin-sharp display ensures it’ll bring your media to vivid life.
Also featuring the impressive A13 chipset, the iPhone 11 Pro Max offers 4K native video at 60fps, and with the three-lens rear array (identical to the iPhone 11 Pro), you can be sure any content you capture is as crisp as possible.
Unsurprisingly, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max comes armed with iOS 13, and boasts a slew of handy new features like improved battery life and even-better Face ID. While its features may hem close to the 11 Pro, that bigger screen could make it worth the leap.
You can get your hands on the iPhone 11 Pro Max with unlimited data from £63 per month (£49 upfront cost) when you trade in your old device.
Apple Watch Series 5
The successor to the superb Series 4, expectations were high for the latest Apple Watch – and we’re pleased to say that these expectations have been exceeded. Perhaps most notable was news that that the Series 5 would now have an always-on display, without compromising on the 18-hour strong battery life. This means you can check your wrist without having to raise or tap the display – adding further convenience to an already stellar package.
As for style, the Series 5 has it in spades, with the new cases once again establishing the Apple Watch as arguably the best-looking smartwatch available. Check out the new ceramic case, in particular, for a luxurious new look.
The Series 5 is powered by watchOS6, boasting an array of new health-friendly features, including the new Cycle Tracking and Noise apps. Other new features include a native compass, so for all you runners eager to go really off the beaten track, you can find your route home with a glance of the wrist.
The Apple Watch Series 5 is available from £17 per month (£279 upfront cost).
iPad 10.2
The seventh generation iPad boasts a larger screen than last year’s entry level model, with the leap from 9.6-inch to 10.2-inch also accompanied by a better viewing angle and improved brightness. Your content has never had it so good.
And that’s not all: iPad 10.2 also comes equipped with support for the first-generation Apple Pencil, so you can take your creativity up a notch even while on your commute. Couple that with a new smart keyboard case, productivity tweaks with iPadOS, and liquid smooth performance thanks to the A10 processor, and you’ve got a tablet to talk about.
