FAQ - Refer a Friend scheme

What products are eligible for the Refer a Friend scheme?

Referral rewards are eligible on purchases of:

  • Any Pay monthly mobile phone contract over £10 a month (excluding Vodafone Basics plans)

    or
  • Any Pay monthly SIM only contract over £10 a month (excluding Vodafone Basics plans)

Which meet the following criteria:

  • It’s a new contract – not an upgrade
  • The purchase was made online from vodafone.co.uk using the referral link we sent you
  • The purchase wasn’t made on a comparison website, such as USwitch, Compare the Market, TechRadar or any other affiliate. All vouchers, deals and offers found on these types of websites are excluded from the Refer a Friend promotion.
  • The purchase must be directly from Vodafone. Purchases from indirect partners or resellers, such as Carphone Warehouse or Mobiles.co.uk aren’t eligible.
  • The purchase is NOT a Vodafone Basics plan
  • The purchase is NOT a Vodafone Business plan

 

What happens if my friend cancels their contract?

If your friend returns or cancels their contract, or fails to pay their bill in the first two months, they won’t be eligible for a reward. 

 

I was offered a deal in store which isn’t available online. Can I get it with the Refer a Friend promotion?

No. If the offer isn’t available on vodafone.co.uk, it’s not eligible for the scheme.

 

My friend recommended me to Vodafone but they didn’t share a link with me before I purchased. Can I still get a reward?

No – in order for a referral to be made, your friend needs to register for a referral link at www.vodafone.co.uk/refer-a-friend and share it with you before you make a purchase. You then need to use the link to register yourself for the scheme and purchase an eligible plan online. This is the only way we track referrals, so referrals made outside of this process aren’t eligible for rewards.

 

I’ve received a link from my friend which begins with referme.to – what do I do with it?

Congratulations! Your friend has sent you a referral link. If you use the link to join us on a Pay monthly contract worth over £10 a month (excluding Vodafone Basics plans), we’ll reward both of you with a £25 Amazon voucher each. Please note that the offer is only redeemable on online purchases made directly from the vodafone.co.uk website.

Just follow these simple steps to claim your reward:

  • Click on the link or copy and paste it into your browser
  • You’ll see a page telling you who’s referred you and what to do next to claim your referral reward
  • Check that the name of the person referring you is as expected
  • Follow the instructions on the page to register yourself for the scheme
  • Click the ‘Start shopping’ button to begin your purchase

Don’t go to any other browsers or windows before you check out, as this may prevent us from tracking your referral.

If you need to leave the site for any reason, make sure you go back to the referral link once you’re ready to return to the site to make a purchase.

Once your purchase is complete, we’ll send you a referral confirmation email.

 

I’ve not received a referral confirmation email. What should I do?

Let us know by sending an email to refer-a-friend-queries@vodafone.com with your web order ID (this can be found in your order confirmation email) and the referral link given to you by your friend. We’ll check the status of your referral for you.

 

How can I tell if my friend has completed their referral?

You can check the status of all your referrals at any time by visiting your referral dashboard. There’s a link to your referral dashboard in your Sign-up email.

If you can’t find your Sign-up email, you can always access your dashboard by going to www.vodafone.co.uk/refer-a-friend If this link sends you to the Sign up page, simply enter the same name and email address that you originally used to sign up with, and choose the option to resend the Sign-up email.

When a friend completes a purchase using your referral link, we’ll also send you both a referral confirmation email. Please note that this email doesn’t guarantee that you’ll receive vouchers, as we need to validate the purchase before we send the vouchers.

Providing you pass our validation process, you’ll then receive your Amazon vouchers by email within 90 days of purchase.

 

My friend is having trouble using my link

If your friend is still having trouble they can try clearing the cookies on their web browser and opening the referral link in a private browser.

If you or your friend are experiencing difficulties, contact us at refer-a-friend@help.vodafone.co.uk with a description of the issue you’re facing. If you can provide a screen shot of any errors you’re experiencing we’ll be able to resolve your query much faster.

 

How do I refer a friend?

  1. Go to vodafone.co.uk/refer-a-friend
  2. Enter your name and email address into the form to sign up for your unique referral link.
  3. Send your friends the referral link we give you. You can use the sharing options we provide or copy and paste it into any other communication.
  4. Tell your friend to follow your referral link to buy a Pay monthly mobile phone or SIM only contract over £10 a month (excluding Vodafone Basics plans) with Vodafone (online purchases only. Terms apply).
  5. Your link is personal to you. You can share it with as many friends as you like. Providing they use it to purchase an eligible plan, we’ll be able to trace the referral back to you.

 

Once we’ve verified that your friend has paid their bills for at least two months, you’ll both receive a £25 Amazon voucher as a reward. This can take up to 90 days to process.

 

Can I refer more than one friend?

Yes – the referral link we give you is yours to keep sharing. Send it to as many friends as you want. Providing they use it to purchase an eligible plan, we’ll be able trace the referral back to you.

Can my friend redeem this offer in store or over the phone?

No – Refer a Friend is an online promotion only.

Your friend must follow the referral link we shared with you. This will take them to our website, where they must then follow the instructions shown on the landing page.

 

Can I refer myself?

No – we have measures in place to identify self-referrals. If we suspect you’re trying to refer yourself we’ll do our best to prevent you from using your link to complete the referral. If you do continue to checkout, your referral will fail the validation process and you won’t receive a referral reward.

 

It says on my dashboard that a referral has failed. Why’s this?

If your referral has a “failed” status, it means that it didn’t pass the verification process. There’s a number of reasons why this could happen. Including:

  • Your friend purchased an ineligible product
  • Your friend failed to pay their bill for two full months
  • Your friend returned their plan within the first two months
  • Your referral was identified as a self-referral

 

When will we receive our vouchers?

You’ll receive your vouchers by email within 90 days of your friend’s purchase. This is because the order needs to go through a verification process to make sure your friend has paid their bill for at least two months and that the purchase meets all other eligibility criteria.

Once the verification is complete, the vouchers will be sent to the email address that you used when signing up to the Refer a Friend scheme.

 

It’s been more than 90 days since I received a referral confirmation email and I’ve not received my vouchers. Why’s this?

Once your friend has made a purchase, their order goes through a validation process to make sure the purchase meets eligibility criteria. There are a number of reasons why your referral may fail validation:

  • Your friend purchased an ineligible product
  • Your friend failed to pay their bill for two full months
  • Your friend returned their plan within the first two months
  • Your referral was identified as a self-referral

You can check if a referral has failed validation on your referral dashboard. The link to this is in your referrer Sign-up email.

Is the offer valid if I refer a family member?

Yes – you can refer a family member. You’ll need to make sure that if they follow your referral link, they do so on a different device to the one you used when signing up to the Refer a Friend scheme. Otherwise we might think you’re trying to refer yourself!

 

Is it valid with discounted plans?

Yes – Refer a Friend is a reward, not a discount. So it can be used alongside discounted plans, Vodafone Advantage discount and employee discounts.

However, it’s NOT eligible alongside affiliate deals or on Vodafone Basics plans.
