A player must search for useful weapons and resources on an island to battle against others. They can buy Apex Coins to buy in-game items such as new characters.
Players can communicate with each other via voice chat and messages. In voice chat they can mute another player or turn it off. They can also report another player.
On some gaming platforms, a player needs an EA account to play Apex Legends and if a player registers an account with an under-18 birth date, some safety settings are automatically applied. A parent can link a child’s EA account to their own EA account to apply parental controls. This can include managing online chat, spending and viewing time spent playing.
