Clubhouse

Clubhouse is an audio-only messaging and social media app. People can use the app to share voice messages with friends.

A ‘chat’ is a group chat where a user shares a voice message with friends, who can then add to it with their own voice recording. People can can create or join a ‘house’ on the app, which is a community of interest where people can meet regularly to chat.

Some users may have access to the ‘Custom Voice’ feature, which allows them to send a text message which will be converted by AI into a voice message that sounds like them (they have to initially record a snippet of their speech, to train the AI).

There are no parental controls available on the app, however some safety settings are available. For example, any user can change their account to private (under 18 accounts are automatically set to private, although this can be changed). This limits who they can chat to and who can see their content such as their friends list. They can also allow ‘nsfw’ (not safe for work) content as well as reporting harmful users or content.
