Clubhouse

Clubhouse is an audio-only messaging and social media app. Users can drop into a ‘room’, which is a space where they can listen to a conversation on a specific topic and send messages. People can also use the app to chat privately and share voice messages with friends.

In the app, people choose their topics of interest to find rooms to join. A user can create their own room and invite others to join them. A user who moderates a room can mute or remove speakers. A user can create or join a ‘house’, which is a community of interest where people can meet regularly to chat.

There are no parental controls available on the app, however some safety settings are available. For example, any user can change their account to private (under 18 accounts are automatically set to private, although this can be changed). This limits who they can chat to (including voice messages) and who can see their content such as their friends list. Mature content is automatically restricted for teenagers but they can change this. Users can prevent other people from seeing who they are sending voice messages to and report harmful users or content.
