To use the app they will need to connect it to their TikTok and/or Snapchat account. Then they are shown other user profile pictures. If they see someone who they like, they can send a request to connect on TikTok or Snapchat. Under 18 profiles can only see other profiles with a stated age of under 18.
There is no chat function in Hoop as its purpose is to connect users on TikTok or Snapchat. Users can search for other people by gender and country. Users need to purchase or earn ‘diamonds’ to send a friend request or a ‘flash request’ (where Hoop sends a connection request to 100 profiles). Diamonds are also needed to customise a user profile. Users can earn diamonds through making new friends, sharing their Hoop details on TikTok or Snapchat or by watching adverts or completing surveys.
There are no parental controls on the Hoop app but there is a parents guide to Hoop. A user can block another user and report harmful content.
