Asda Mobile customers to benefit from superior call quality

A pair of technologies now rolling out to Asda Mobile, which relies on Vodafone’s UK network, will bring enhanced voice call features to the supermarket chain's mobile customers.

Customers of Asda Mobile, a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) that uses Vodafone’s UK network, will soon benefit from new voice call features.

4G Calling will bring superior audio quality, while WiFi Calling will enable people to make and receive calls where it would otherwise be difficult or impossible.

4G Calling, also known as Voice over LTE (or VoLTE), brings high-definition audio quality to compatible handsets. This can make the person on the other end sound as though they were standing right next to you.

WiFi Calling, also known as Voice over WiFi (or VoWiFi), enables you to make and receive calls whenever your compatible smartphone is connected to a WiFi router with an internet connection. This can be useful in places and situations where there is little or no mobile network coverage, such as underground or in old buildings with unusually thick walls.

To find out if your smartphone supports 4G Calling and WiFi Calling, ask the handset manufacturer.

Both 4G Calling and WiFi Calling are rolling out now to existing Asda Mobile customers. And from 30 June 2021, new Asda Mobile customers with compatible smartphones will benefit from 4G Calling and WiFi Calling as soon as their service starts.

Asda chose Vodafone as its MVNO partner in September 2020 and Vodafone began welcoming Asda customers onto its network in March.
