Set on an island, teams of up to four people compete against other players. A player can purchase or earn in-game currency, which can be used to buy in-game items such as clothing, weapons, vehicles and to unlock rewards.
Players can voice chat with friends they are playing with and on some devices (such as PC) they can also chat with other players who are close to them in the game. Messaging features are also available.
There are no built-in parental controls available on PUBG: Battlegrounds but these may be available on the gaming platforms used to play PUBG e.g. via Xbox. Safety settings are available and allow players to report a player for harmful behaviour, using inappropriate language or with an inappropriate nickname for example. If a child chooses to use a different app for voice chat with friends, it may provide additional safety settings.
