How it works
While the core game is rated PEGI 3, it should be noted that the game can be played alone or with other players (who a child may or may not know personally) and includes messaging and voice chat as well as in-game purchases.
Players can earn ‘FC Coins’ or purchase ‘FC Points’ with real money. These currencies can be used to purchase and trade players, managers and other items in the game’s Ultimate Team mode (which allows players to build and manage their own team). They can also be used to gain rewards from Packs where the player doesn’t know exactly what reward they will get until after they’ve paid. Mobile app players are encouraged to use the game daily, to receive ‘Daily Login Rewards’.
Parental controls or safety settings available
For players using EA’s PC gaming platforms (the EA app on Windows or Mac), parents can apply parental controls to monitor and control the playtime and spending limits of their children aged 13+. Under 13 accounts are automatically restricted from making purchases, accessing online modes (like Ultimate Team), or connecting their games to social media apps.
There are also safety settings and features available to players across all gaming platforms. Players can set up ‘FC Playtime’ to set limits on their in-game activity, monitor their playtime and set purchase and Pack limits. Safety settings enable players to block others and control who they play with. Accessibility options include High-Contrast Mode and pitch saturation controls. Players can refuse to share their data for personalised advertising. Additional safety settings may be available on the gaming platform being used to play EAS FC on e.g. Xbox.
