Marvel Rivals

What it is
Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play, team-based shooting game available on consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox as well as Windows PC. Players choose from different Marvel characters, including members of the Avengers, X-Men, and Guardians of the Galaxy, to compete in battles. The game features destructible environments based on iconic Marvel locations.

How it works
Two teams of six players compete in objective-based matches, such as escorting a vehicle or capturing territory. Players can text and voice chat. A core feature is Dynamic Hero Synergy, where specific characters can combine their powers to perform special Team-Up moves; for example, Rocket Raccoon can ride on Groot’s back.

Players can buy the virtual currency (Lattice) to pay for a battle pass, which gives rewards such as skins (cosmetic items that change a character’s appearance). Players also get rewards for logging in daily and for inviting friends to join and complete missions together. There are time-limited events to encourage play.

Parental controls or safety settings available

Safety settings include disabling text and voice chat.  Players can block and report other players.

There are no parental controls built into the game, but parents could set parental controls on the gaming platform or device being used to play the game.
