Amazon Prime Video

What it is
Amazon’s Prime Video is a subscription streaming service. Users can watch on a browser or there are apps for smart TVs, mobile devices, gaming consoles and streaming media devices. Users can find various films and programmes including Amazon Originals (made by Amazon).

How it works
Content is sorted into categories such as ‘Action Films’. There are tabs for Movies, TV Shows, Sports and Live TV (a mix of live broadcast content and ‘stations’ of back-to-back episodes of specific programmes). Users can give thumbs up or down feedback to improve recommendations. They can download titles to their device. Some content is free for subscribers, but users can rent or buy content and add other streaming services.

Profiles can be for adults or kids. Most content has BBFC ratings (U to 18) or Amazon ratings (All to 18+). Kids profiles show content for under-12s, but all downloads are accessible. Commercial streamers are not required to meet the same educational or quality rules as public service broadcasters.
