The app shows a user different people’s profiles and displays whether they are currently online. A user can ‘admire’ a profile, send a message or virtual gift or make a video call to that person. Users can choose whether to see profiles only from specific countries or languages. ‘Moments’ are pictures or videos shared by other users. A person can scroll down the Moments Page and ‘like’ or ‘comment’ on a moment. They can also scroll the ‘Live’ screen to choose a livestream to watch. Yolo rewards users (for doing things like adding photos) with ‘coins’ that they can use to buy virtual items. A user can pay for extras such as additional messages.
There are no parental controls and limited safety settings beyond the ability to block and report content or users in the app. A user can also toggle their status setting from ‘Let’s chat’ to ‘Not in the mood’, signaling that they will not reply immediately to messages.
