How it works
The different games are set in historic or modern warfare settings and a player can play alone or in a team. A player can buy COD Points to pay for in-game items or a Battle Pass. A Battle Pass rewards a player with items such as weapons as they progress in the game.
People can chat with other players in their team or those who are nearby in the game (in certain game modes). Toxic language is filtered from chat when detected, but a player can also report another player, for example for using offensive language.
Parental controls or safety settings available
As this game has been created for adults it does not have comprehensive parental controls. However, Activision provides a Parental Consent system to allow children to play some games (and additional safety settings may apply e.g. voice chat is turned off). Call of Duty safety settings allow a player to:
• Hide their real name
• Manage who can invite them to play together
• Turn off some violent and gory content
• Automatically block messages containing swear words
• Turn off chat with people nearby in the game
• Turn off text and voice chat altogether
The gaming platform being used to play a Call of Duty game e.g. PlayStation may provide more safety settings.
