Marketed as the ‘first phone for teens’, the Fusion X1 has few pre-installed apps (e.g. it does not have a browser pre-installed) and it is designed for use with a paid-for parental controls subscription. Various accessories can be connected to the phone to extend its functionality, such as a game controller to turn the phone into a handheld gaming device.
The Fusion X1 has comprehensive parental controls available via subscription. Parents can pay a monthly fee to use the Xplora app on their own device for this purpose. These paid-for controls include tracking their child’s location in real-time and being alerted if their child leaves or enters a specific area. Parents manually deny or approve every app the child wishes to use from the Google Play Store, and can hide installed apps. They can limit the phone’s messaging capabilities e.g. only allowing their child to send pre-written phrases by text and they can control their child’s contacts. There are screen time controls and parents can view their child’s daily stepcount. Parents do not have to pay for the subscription and may be able to use other parental control apps if preferred.
