It is not possible to search for friends on the app. To add a new friend, a user must know their friend’s ‘Magic Code’ or handle (username). They can also create an invitation message in Kinzoo which they can share elsewhere such as through another messaging app.
Users can send messages and make voice and video calls. This includes ‘Jams’ (audio calls where you can share emojis such as a smiley face too), ‘Open Jams’ (group audio calls) and ‘Blips’ (video calls that automatically end after 8 minutes). Users can also follow different ‘Paths’ which provide themed content such as memes, videos, branded content and games. People can access stickers, face filters, wallpapers and mini-games in the Marketplace. Some content is free but for premium content, users must buy Zoonies (currency in the app) or pay a monthly subscription to the Kinzoo Club. Users can also earn digital rewards by sending an invitation to connect to someone else.
Kinzoo has parental controls. A parent can create a child account which has limited functions, and they can PIN-protect their own account so that both parent and child can use a single device by switching accounts. Parents can see when their child is online and when they are typing. They can also change their child’s PIN code and birthdate. A parent can manage whether their child can send and accept invitations, make voice, video or Jam calls, and follow new Paths. It’s important to note that if a child is invited to an Open Jam group audio call by one of their contacts, this call may include people they are not directly friends with in the app.
