How it works
Players are divided into two teams and there are different modes of play. The main modes involve working together to capture objectives, though optional arcade modes exist, such as ‘deathmatch’ where every player fights for themselves. Players can pay for in-game items or buy a Battle Pass to receive perks as they progress through the game.
Players must have a Battle.net account to play.
Parental controls or safety settings available
There are parental controls features available for Blizzard Games including Overwatch. These are managed via the Battle.net Parental Portal and include:
• Setting time limits
• Disabling in-game purchases
• Managing who can text and voice chat with a child or see their profile information
Parents can also manage whether their child can post in the game’s community forum.
Additional safety settings are available such as disabling or muting other players as well as the ability to report other players. Players can also prevent their account being suggested to other players or their personal data being used for targeted advertising. Safety settings are also available on the gaming platform used to play Overwatch such as Nintendo Switch.
