Rocket League can be played on a number of gaming platforms and devices including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Android. If players want to play in teams they can chat with their teammates by text or voice. Whilst the game is free to play, players can buy Credits to purchase items in the game or a Rocket Pass Premium for rewards as a player progresses through levels of the game.
A player with a child’s date of birth will need to provide a parent’s email address to gain consent to play the game.
Rocket League does have parental controls features available. These are accessed via the Epic Games Account Portal and can be used to put restrictions on in-game purchasing, sending or accepting friend requests and chat for example. Note that Rocket League itself includes options to disable text and voice chat. Some safety settings are applied by default to children’s accounts (known as ‘Cabined Accounts’), such as disabling voice and text chat. Parents can check for additional safety settings on the gaming platform being used to play Rocket League, such as a Windows PC.
