How it works
As tablets, Samsung’s Galaxy Tabs are larger than Samsung Galaxy smartphones and their features and functions are slightly different. However they both allow users to do a variety of things such as access the internet, watch videos, play games, listen to music, read books and a huge range of apps through the Galaxy Store. Further apps can be accessed through the Google Play store. The latest model includes artificial intelligence (AI) to help users with activities such as writing, creating or editing images and online search.
Parental controls or safety settings available
Samsung Galaxy Tabs have parental controls available in the Samsung Family Group settings and through Google’s Family Link app. Controls include the ability to:
• Set daily time limits
• Restrict their child’s access to specific apps, websites or features
• View the location of their child’s device
Samsung has also put measures in place with the Samsung Kids mode, which allows parents to create a customised profile for their child with access to only a small number of apps and websites. Parents can monitor their child’s activity and set time limits. They can also restrict apps and games on Android devices using the Google Play parental controls. On Android devices, a user can prevent apps accessing personal data such as device location through the Permission Manager parental controls.
