What it is
TCL smartphones is a series of Android-based smartphones (meaning they are powered by Google’s Android operating system, but use the TCL UI skin to have a different look and feel). They are created by TCL Technology Group Corporation.

How it works
TCL is known for providing more affordable smartphone models. As with most smartphones, these devices allow users to access popular features and functions such as cameras, a touch-screen interface and the ability to browse the internet. In addition, users can access millions of apps, from video streaming apps to gaming apps via the Google Play store. TCL is introducing artificial intelligence technology to help with tasks like summarising a written or spoken conversation.

Parental controls or safety settings available
These smartphones have parental controls available that can be accessed through the Google Family Link app. This gives parents the ability to:

• Set daily time limits

• Restrict their child’s access to specific apps, websites or features

• View the location of their child’s device

A user can also prevent apps accessing personal data and functions such as contacts list and camera through the Permission Manager. They can also use the Digital Wellbeing settings to manage and track time spent online.
