Valorant

Valorant is an online multi-player team shooter game set in a dystopian future. A person plays the role of an ‘agent’, which is a character with specific skills. The game is played in rounds where players compete to eliminate each other or to complete objectives. The game includes realistic, frequent combat violence.

Valorant is produced by Riot Games, is available on PC, and mobile devices and on gaming consoles such as PlayStation and Xbox. Players need a Riot account to play the game. People can purchase Valorant Points to buy premium weapon skins. A separate currency called Radianite Points is used to upgrade the visual effects of these skins. A free currency called ‘Kingdom Credits’ is earned by playing and is used to unlock new characters.

Text and voice chat is available and includes automated moderation which can trigger warnings, chat restrictions and a temporary gaming ban. Players can choose to filter out mature content, explicit language and specific words in chat and turn off voice chat altogether.

There are no game-specific parental controls but various safety settings are available. For example, players can block and report other players, hide their name from others and turn off friend requests. Parents can also explore the safety settings and controls on the console used for play, such as the ‘Microsoft Family Safety’ parental controls for Xbox and Windows PC.

When an account is set to 'private' it means only approved people whom the user has chosen can see their profile and/or communicate with them e.g. just friends and family

Time Limit

Decide when and for how long a user can access a piece of technology e.g. set a schedule on a broadband router so that internet access turns off after 8pm
