Xiaomi Pad 5

What it is
The Xiaomi Pad is a line of tablets produced by the electronics company Xiaomi Inc which run on the Android operating system or Xiaomi’s HyperOS operating system (also based on Android).

How it works
These tablets offer a large high-resolution display screen, and smart pens can be used to write on the tablets. Similar to the Xiaomi smartphone range, the tablets allow users to do things like access the internet, watch videos, play games, listen to music, read books and access a wide range of apps through the Google Play Store. Newer tablets include AI (artificial intelligence) for tasks like creating videos, taking notes and translating text.

Parental controls or safety settings available
Xiaomi tablets do have parental controls and safety settings available and these can be accessed through the Google Family Link app. This gives parents the ability to:

• Set daily time limits

• Restrict their child’s access to specific apps, websites or features

• View the location of their child’s device

You can also access parental control settings via Xiaomi’s device settings. Xiaomi tablets may include a ‘Second Space’ function, which allows the user to switch to an alternative profile (where parental controls do not apply). Parents may wish to pin-protect Second Space.
