1 March: Carabao Cup Final
With Manchester City’s chances of securing silverware from the Premier League all but over, they have a great opportunity to finish top of the podium against Aston Villa at Wembley on Sunday (4.30pm kick off). Aston Villa, who currently sit one place above the relegation zone in the League, have secured decent results this season against Leicester City and Wolves, and they thumped Liverpool 5-0 in the Football League Cup. Definitely one to watch out for.
Man City have had a month to forget after receiving a ban from the UEFA Champions League for the next two seasons, but a win in London and lifting the Carabao cup may sweeten it… slightly.
15 March: Australian Grand Prix
The Formula 1 season kicks off again on Sunday 15 March with the first race taking place at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit in Australia, as is traditional. Despite fears that it may be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, the race is still scheduled to go ahead and will start at 5.10am UK time.
Racers will need to complete 58 laps of the 5.3km (3.3m) circuit, with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel the bookies favourite to take the chequered flag.
19 March: Sri Lanka vs England
England travel to Sri Lanka after a thrilling tour against South Africa that ended with a narrow 2-1 victory across the series. The first match will be played across five days at Galle International Stadium.
Ben Stokes – newly awarded an OBE – makes the squad, as does Jos Buttler and Joe Root who have both been awarded a CBE.
Avid cricket fans will need to set their alarms, as the first ball will be bowled at 4.30am – we suggest you book the Friday off.
