London’s full fibre blackspots now lit up by VodafoneThree

Underserved communities in the capital now have greater choice in full fibre broadband thanks to the partnership between VodafoneThree and Community Fibre.

550,000 homes across all 32 London boroughs now have greater choice in broadband thanks to VodafoneThree’s partnership with full fibre infrastructure specialists Community Fibre. This includes underserved communities across the capital that have historically struggled with older, slower and more easily congested types of broadband technology, from Croydon to Westminster.

Tens of thousands of homes in some of London’s most densely populated boroughs have previously had fewer choices of provider if they wanted to upgrade to the many benefits of full fibre broadband. This includes well-known areas, such as Camden and Westminster, where only a small fraction of households can access full fibre from a provider that uses Openreach’s infrastructure, as these figures show:

These figures also illustrate the benefit of VodafoneThree’s strategy of partnering with multiple full fibre infrastructure specialists – namely CityFibre, Openreach and now Community Fibre – rather than just one. It enables the company to bring the benefits of full fibre to as many households as possible, making it the internet service provider with the largest full fibre footprint in the UK.

Full fibre broadband from Vodafone and Community Fibre has a top speed of 2.2Gbps, for both uploads and downloads. This is 60x faster than the Fibre To The Cabinet connections, that many London households may still be using, which have maximum speeds of around 67Mbps download and 18Mbps upload. While FTTC speeds will be adequate for some households, such speeds will struggle to keep up with busy households where multiple people will want to stream, game, work from home and study all at the same time.

Pro 3 broadband packages from Vodafone come with routers that have WiFi 7 technology. For devices that also have this latest version of the WiFi standard, it helps harden the wireless signals in your home against interference for a more reliable experience.
