Would-be Lotto operators Allwyn to draw on Vodafone UK’s technological expertise.
Allwyn, the UK arm of SAZKA Group, which operates lotteries in numerous countries across Europe, is bidding to run the UK’s National Lottery. If successful, Allwyn intends to draw upon Vodafone UK’s connectivity and technology expertise to improve lottery retail operations.
The decision on who will operate the National Lottery is due later in 2021. If Allwyn wins the franchise to run the Lottery, it will draw upon the expertise of local team members as well as SAZKA Group’s experience in running lotteries in European countries such as Austria, Cyprus and the Czech Republic.
While Vodafone UK may be best known for selling smartphones and SIM cards, it also has long-standing experience in providing connectivity and technology to businesses and public sector organisations of all sizes so they can operate as effectively as possible.
From Internet of Things sensors that help water companies clamp down on leaks and cybersecurity services for critical infrastructure companies, to the connections that make live video testimony possible in court cases, Vodafone UK has the tech comms expertise to make it happen.
Allwyn’s Bid Chair Sir Keith Mills said: “At Allwyn, as part of SAZKA Group, we make lotteries better so that they can serve as a force for good. We do this by bringing the fun back to lotteries that have often lost their spark, while always safeguarding our players – ensuring sustainable growth and more money to good causes along the way.”
Anne Sheehan, Business Director, Vodafone UK, added: “We are delighted to be selected as the connectivity partner for Allwyn’s bid for the fourth National Lottery Licence. We have provided market-leading and highly reliable connectivity in the UK for more than 30 years, and we understand the cutting-edge technologies that enable the best, most engaging experiences.”
