Vodafone’s youth brand VOXI has filmed, edited and produced a new television commercial entirely from home - an illustration of what can be achieved remotely using the latest mobile and broadband technologies.
The new advert, which shows how a teenager is staying connected to his friends during the coronavirus lockdown, was shot in its entirety using a Samsung S20 smartphone.
The production was filmed using the 4K front and rear cameras, and the sound was recorded through the internal microphones.
The ‘Stay Endless, Stay Connected’ ad demonstrates that even if you are self-isolating, you can still bake, socialise or DJ with your friends, and even go on virtual dates using your smartphone or tablet.

The actor live-streamed the camera feed to the producers via Zoom so they could direct him remotely. Once the footage was captured, a team of editors pieced the puzzle together without stepping foot in an office.
Responding to the new VOXI ad, Stephen Woodford, Chief Executive of Advertising Association said: “The UK advertising sector is unique for its blend of strategic, creative, technical and productions skills and this is a brilliant example of all of that in action.
“At the heart of our industry is a strong entrepreneurial spirit to make things happen, no matter the challenge, and congratulations to all of the talented people involved in bringing this new ad to our screens.”
During these testing times, where lockdown means staying at home most of the time, it’s become apparent just how important being connected to our friends and families is. The new VOXI commercial highlights the crucial role mobile networks are playing in keeping the UK connected.
Max Taylor, Consumer Director, Vodafone UK, said: “Technology really does have the power to unify us and I hope our story of a totally isolated team delivering a first class ad from their home offices and kitchen tables will inspire other brands to adapt and challenge their traditional thinking to create unique stories of their own.”
Ogilvy, the advertising company that helped create the new ad, said: “We are incredibly proud of this new work for VOXI; for its creativity, cultural relevance and innovative approach.”
The VOXI ad first aired on Saturday night during ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.
