Connecting the capital: Your summer guide to London’s hot spots

2025 saw Vodafone officially named London’s Best Network for the second year running. So, if you’re planning a trip to the capital this summer, here’s your guide to some of the city’s hot spots.

Vodafone was named London’s Best Network once again in 2025 based on NET CHECK’s measurement of various voice and data service categories, such as reliability and speed.

And perhaps it’s no surprise, given the wide range of network projects and improvements completed recently across the UK’s biggest city.

With connectivity an increasingly vital part of many people’s holidays – whether it’s used to navigate an unfamiliar city or find the best dining and shopping locations – here’s a handy guide to some key London spots that should guarantee strong connections on the Vodafone network.

I HEART LDN: Vodafone lights up the capital to celebrate being crowned London’s Best Network

Giant ‘beating heart’ installation powered by human connections glows as Londoners make calls, send texts and use data on the Vodafone network.

Airports

If you choose to fly to the capital from elsewhere in the UK, you can make the most of significantly improved Vodafone 4G signal at London Stansted Airport, thanks to the installation of a dedicated in-building mobile coverage system

Whether you’re trying to call a friend or book a taxi as you travel through the terminal, this means you’ll have access to better call quality and fast mobile data speeds.

And don’t worry if you can’t find flights into Stansted, as Vodafone’s 5G network has also been live in the North and South Terminals at London Gatwick Airport since 2022, helping travellers check their flight status or book last-minute changes faster than ever.

The tube

What would a visit to London be without a journey on the Tube? While commuters might dread going underground, for tourists, it’s a rite of passage.

Now, making sure you’re travelling in the right direction has never been easier, because Vodafone has been working with Transport for London (TfL) and Boldyn Networks to ensure customers can stay connected while on the move.

With 4G and/or 5G coverage across various parts of the Bakerloo, Central, Elizabeth, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines – in addition to WiFi at 260 station platforms – navigating the London Underground is a breeze.

The Tube and the Elizabeth line have stations, platforms and tunnels that are deep underground the capital, but you can still stay connected using Vodafone’s network.

Sightseeing

Make your next stop Waterloo and walk through South Bank to the London Eye – the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel.

As well as an amazing view of Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral and other famous London landmarks, Vodafone’s small cell technology now delivers both 4G and 5G coverage to locals and tourists alike.

These shoebox-sized units have been placed along the length of the Thames –  ensuring great coverage in one of London’s busiest locations, without the need for large masts or antenna equipment.

Shopping

After you’ve seen the sights, jump back on the Tube – or take a slow walk through Hyde Park – until you reach Shepherd’s Bush. Here, it’s time to indulge in some retail therapy.

Once the largest shopping centre in Europe, Westfield London now boasts another impressive claim: faster, more reliable 4G connectivity.

In fact, alongside sister site Westfield Stratford City, Vodafone 4G has been installed on new infrastructure covering more than 4.5 million sq. ft. That’s roughly equivalent to 55 football pitches.

Back of the net! Dedicated Vodafone 5G now live across stadiums

As demand for mobile data soars, dedicated in-building upgrades now provide Vodafone signal inside stadia across the UK.

Stadiums

Speaking of football, if you’re hoping to visit one of the capital’s many grounds for an out-of-season stadium tour, or even a concert, then look no further than the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or Wembley.

Both stadiums now benefit from fast Vodafone 5G and improved 4G due to the deployment of dedicated network systems, while Craven Cottage and Stamford Bridge have also had 4G coverage strengthened.

All of which means you can livestream your visit direct to friends, whether you’re pitch side or in the front row.

Dining

Every busy day should end with a good meal. But choosing where to eat can be a tricky task when travelling with friends or family.

Fortunately, one of London’s latest food halls also happens to be in one of the city’s most iconic buildings. Better yet, visitors to Battersea Power Station can now enjoy fast Vodafone 4G mobile data speeds, as well as reliable calls, following improvements in the Grade II listed building.

That means you can all split off to find your favourite cuisine out of the 13 on offer, before jumping into the group chat to find each other among the 500-cover food hall. Bon appétit.
