British Data Awards honours Vodafone with gong

The award recognised the company’s efforts to develop employees’ skills in data literacy and analysis.

The British Data Awards 2023 has recognised Vodafone with an award for its Data Literacy programme.

The judges acknowledged the efforts of Vodafone’s Data Literacy programme to empower its employees to use data effectively, regardless of role or pre-existing skill level. The programme is also building a community of Data Champions who share best practice and resources across the business. The judges were also impressed with how Vodafone used data in their decision making to better meet the needs of their customers.

The company stood out against competition from the likes of Octopus Energy, UK Power Networks, The Financial Times, and Anglian Water.

Data literacy is the ability to read, work with, analyse and communicate with data. Low data literacy can hold businesses back as it’s a skill that empowers employees, at all levels, to ask the right questions, develop knowledge and make decisions. At Vodafone, a better understanding of data has led to improved decision making, a greater awareness of its customers, and how to better support their needs.

Vodafone strikes partnership to provide even better experience for businesses

Vodafone has entered into a partnership with Quantexa, a decision intelligence technology provider, in a first for the UK telecoms industry.

Miryem Salah, Chief Data & Digital Officer for Vodafone UK, said: “It is wonderful that the work of the Data Literacy programme team has received the recognition they deserve with these awards. It shows the success of Vodafone’s ongoing transformation into a data-led organisation. Congratulations!”

The British Data Awards celebrates excellence in data driven solutions across the UK, whether it takes place in FTSE 100 companies, start-ups, the public sector, or not-for-profit organisations.
