Vodafone, Official Connectivity Partner of Wimbledon, has welcomed a host of the UK’s best-loved stars into The Vodafone Lounge at Wimbledon, The Championships, to enjoy premium hospitality followed by blockbuster tennis action on Centre Court and No.1 Court.

Ex-England star Michael Owen made it a family affair with daughter Gemma and wife Louise by his side, while TV favourites Ryan Thomas, Lucy Mecklenburgh, Helen Flanagan and Emily Atack were all spotted catching-up in The Vodafone Lounge.

Cricket’s man-of-the-moment Ben Stokes and Lioness footballer Beth Mead brought their sporting prowess to the day, showing-off their best tennis serves in the Southern Village, as they tested their speeds in the Vodafone Connection Experience.

Also in attendance over the last two weeks were actress Hannah Waddingham, Eurovision favourite Sam Ryder, podcast host Jameela Jamil and her partner James Blake, former footballers turned broadcasters Jermaine Jenas and Eniola Aluko and TV presenter Myleene Klass.

The stars sipped on Pimm’s and champagne and indulged in traditional Wimbledon strawberries and cream in The Vodafone Lounge, before heading out to Centre Court and No.1 Court to catch all the action.

This is the second year that Vodafone has been the Official Connectivity Partner of Wimbledon as it continues its commitment to using 5G technology to enhance live experiences. For 2023, Vodafone worked closely with GiveVision at Wimbledon to trial new 5G-powered headsets and give visually impaired fans a chance to watch live tennis like never before. The activity was part of Vodafone’s broader commitment to improve accessibility across both sport and music, following its development of haptic suits for deaf music fans at last year’s Mighty Hoopla and the addition of all-new visually impaired and wheelchair categories to Play Your Way To Wimbledon, powered by Vodafone, the UK’s largest individual mass participation tennis competition.

Vodafone 5G gives visually impaired tennis fans world-first experience at Wimbledon

Live footage is streamed from local TV cameras over 5G to the headsets – developed by GiveVision – which enhance the footage to suit the person’s specific sight profile.
