Vodafone Business, the enterprise arm of VodafoneThree, is the first in the UK to deliver commercial 5G network slicing to enterprise customers, giving businesses access to their own dedicated slice of its mobile network with guaranteed local performance. It has also launched Network Boost, for organisations requiring more dependable connectivity in busiest areas.
Vodafone Business 5G+ Local Slicing: a dedicated slice of the network, guaranteed
Enterprises can now access mobile network performance that is contractually assured. Until now, businesses running critical operations on mobile networks have had to accept shared connectivity without assurance of performance. 5G+ Local Slicing removes that constraint and guarantees a private ‘fast lane’ reserved for that customer.
Vodafone completes UK-first trial of multiple 5G SA network slices giving fans a glimpse of the future
Multiple professional demands for online connectivity, in a packed stadium, were easily met using the advanced network technology.
The launch follows the merger of Vodafone and Three, which saw a committed £11 billion investment to build the UK’s best network, delivering 5G Standalone to 99% percent of the UK population by 2030, and 99.96% by 2034.
Nick Gliddon, Business Director, VodafoneThree said: “Vodafone Business is first in the UK to make network slicing real for enterprise, and that matters because businesses need more from their mobile connectivity. They are processing thousands of transactions, deploying AI, running real-time complex logistics, and managing staff communications on mobile networks that were built to be shared, not dedicated.”
“Local Slicing changes that, with connectivity that is engineered around the needs of a business. Enterprise customers can now own their network performance, not just hope for it.”

5G+ Local Slicing is designed for organisations that need mission-critical connectivity – including manufacturers, logistics operators, healthcare providers, retailers, universities, transport hubs, stadiums and campus environments. The growing use and integration of AI across businesses also makes the need for assured connectivity more acute.
By allocating a dedicated slice of our network for a single organisation (within a defined local area of the 5km2), businesses get guaranteed, predictable performance for their most critical tools. Slices can be provisioned on a temporary or permanent basis, and additional slices can be provisioned to meet evolving customer needs.
It also performs under the most demanding real-world conditions. VodafoneThree trials at the Coronation of King Charles III, Glastonbury Festival and a UK-first dual slice at the Principality Stadium demonstrated sustained, prioritised performance even when tens of thousands of people were simultaneously placing demand on the local network.
Vodafone supports drinks service at Glastonbury through network slicing
Vodafone dedicated a small portion of its network at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival to connect 102 of EBC's payment machines, using a technique known as network slicing.
For organisations requiring fully bespoke, self-contained onsite connectivity and maximum control, Mobile Private Networks (MPNs) continue to play a critical role. Vodafone Business has a strong track record in this space and is recognised by Gartner as a Leader in its 2026 Magic Quadrant for 4G and 5G Private Mobile Network services (for the second consecutive year). With the introduction of 5G+ Local Slicing, Vodafone Business now offers enterprises a spectrum of dedicated connectivity, matched to how and where they operate.
Vodafone Business Network Boost: assured connectivity where demand is highest
Vodafone Business has also launched Network Boost, a nationwide service for organisations that need more reliable mobile connectivity in the UK’s busiest areas. By prioritising business data traffic where the network is under pressure, it reduces delays and keeps critical applications running, whether that’s processing orders, supporting field teams or accessing cloud tools.
Available to SMEs, large enterprises and partners, businesses can add Network Boost to their contract through their Vodafone Business sales representative or instore.
