Vodafone Business announces Jason Robinson as new ambassador

The partnership will help provide support to grassroots rugby in the UK.

Vodafone Business has announced a partnership with rugby legend Jason Robinson OBE as its new ambassador. Jason will work with Vodafone Business to help raise awareness of its partnership with the Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC2021) as Official Technology Partner, as well as helping to support grassroots rugby clubs in the UK and inspire future talent.

Jason is widely regarded as one of rugby’s greatest ever players, playing Rugby League and Rugby Union at international level and representing England in three World Cup Finals, winning the 2003 Rugby Union World Cup in Sydney, Australia. Jason is passionate about young people and their development and, since retiring from rugby in 2010, he has founded a number of small businesses focused on getting more kids into sport.

As part of the partnership, Vodafone will work with Jason to provide support to grassroots rugby in the UK and encourage players of all ages, abilities and background to get involved in the sport. This will include the delivery and expansion of initiatives such as The Rugby Hub that helps grassroots rugby clubs grow and become more sustainable as businesses through the provision of free learning tools that will help clubs develop their digital capabilities.

Rugby legends help raise over £10,000 for Aberdare RFC as part of Vodafone’s Lions Legacy Tour

Former Aberdare RFC junior, Alex Mann, led training sessions with young players during a day of youth-focused activities, celebrating Vodafone and Aberdare’s commitment to developing the next generation of rugby talent.

His experience playing at the highest level of international rugby will help to motivate and inspire the next generation of talent and bring the RLWC2021 to life for fans. In addition, Jason will draw on his learnings, both on the pitch as a player and off the pitch as a small business owner, to help Vodafone Business customers, partners and employees navigate the challenges that individuals face.

Jason Robinson said: “I am really pleased to be working with Vodafone Business as its new ambassador, especially ahead of the Rugby League World Cup. Partnering with brands and businesses that share the same values as I do is so important to me. I know first-hand how important grassroots clubs are to the future of the game, and I’m looking forward to being able to support them through this partnership.”

Nick Gliddon, Vodafone’s UK Business Director, said: “Vodafone Business is proud to announce Jason as its new ambassador. As a brand we champion diversity and inclusion, so we are hugely excited to be working with an ambassador who has shared values. Together with Jason, we are looking forward to bringing our Rugby League World Cup partnership to life and help to support grassroots clubs.”

The announcement follows Vodafone’s new multi-year partnership with Wimbledon and the AELTC as Official Connectivity Partner; its role as Lead Partner for the British and Irish Lions2021 Tour of South Africa; Lead Partner of Wasps Rugby and Netball; and Rugby Union Player Associations the Rugby Players Association (RPA), Rugby Players Scotland (RPS) and The Welsh Rugby Players Association (WRPA).
