Cyberhackers costing UK SMEs £3.4bn a year
To help SMEs provide essential cybersecurity training to staff, Vodafone Business is offering a complimentary one-month trial of CybSafe, a leading human risk management platform.
Unlike traditional training programs, CybSafe continuously adapts to emerging threats, making it a powerful tool for SMEs looking to strengthen their security posture.
The initiative follows alarming findings laid out in Vodafone Business’ report Securing Success: The Role of Cybersecurity in SME Growth, which found SMEs are incurring an estimated loss of £3.4 billion a year due to having inadequate cybersecurity procedures. The average cost of a cyber-attack for a small business is £3,398, escalating to £5,001 for those with 50 or more employees.
Other key findings in the report include:
- 52% of SME employees have received no cybersecurity training, leaving businesses exposed to cyber risks.
- 32% of SMEs have no cybersecurity protections in place at all.
- 38% of SMEs invest less than £100 a year in cybersecurity, despite 64% having a remote work force.
- 60% of SMEs allow employees to use personal IT equipment, increasing security risks, with 19% of remote workers targeted by cyber criminals.
- 15% of SME employees have been banned from working from home due to cybersecurity concerns.
