Recognising International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, Vodafone looks to build on its proud Pride history by doing more to support the diverse range of people who make up the LGBT+ community.
International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia – known as May 17 for short – is a worldwide celebration of sexual and gender diversities, which also highlights the violence and discrimination many communities still experience.
To bolster support for the community, and adding to its declaration of intent for the post-pandemic summer of all summers, Vodafone is proud to sponsor National Student Pride, the biggest event of its kind in the UK.
This adds to the company’s roster of Pride events which customers, staff and supporters are excited to celebrate across June and July this year. For many people, this will be their first Pride since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Discrimination against LGBT+ communities is sadly still a problem in today’s society. Trans and non-binary communities are often most at risk of discrimination and hate, some studies have shown.
To help combat this prejudice, Vodafone wants to help organisations that raise awareness of the intersectionality and multiple identities that exist within society, and so within the workforce.
