Vodafone reveals next four cities to join eSIM network trial

Following on from London, Vodafone is continuing to roll out its eSIM network trial in four more cities across the UK.

Vodafone is offering customers of any network in Liverpool, Sheffield, Watford and Belfast a free seven-day trial, without having to change their number, and with no strings attached. All customers need to try the Vodafone network for free is an eSIM-compatible smartphone.

Those in qualifying areas will be sent a leaflet by post, and can scan the QR code* to receive 50GB of data, 500 minutes and 500 texts completely free, for 7 days.

Since the trial uses eSIMs, non-Vodafone customers can join without having to change their existing number or swap their physical SIM card. Instead, once installed, they can simply switch between Vodafone’s network and their current provider through the device settings on their smartphone.

Belfast

Roughly 8,000 calls are made each weekday on Vodafone’s network, with the BT7 district using the most data.

Sheffield

More than 12,000 calls are made each weekday on the Vodafone network, with the S2 area being the busiest district for data usage.

Liverpool

An average of 19,000 calls are made each weekday on Vodafone’s network, with the L9 area being the busiest district regarding data usage.

Watford

Nearly 4,000 calls are made on the Vodafone network on an average weekday, with the WD18 area being busiest when it comes to data usage.

Vodafone is also committed to supporting each city’s connectivity infrastructure. In Belfast, for instance, 5G coverage installation has recently been undertaken at the George Best Airport, while the network’s 4G coverage installation at the Mersey Tunnels means commuters in Liverpool can seamlessly connect while travelling.

The news builds on Vodafone’s previous trial in Londonduring May, which saw Vodafone become the first mobile network operator to offer mobile customers on other networks the opportunity to participate in a free seven-day network trial in a major European city.

Following Liverpool, Sheffield, Watford and Belfast, Vodafone is planning to roll out the trial even further, across other cities around the UK. IT will also bring it back to some of the nation’s most loved festivals, including Glastonbury Festival and Boardmasters Festival.
