What’s an eSIM?
An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that's already installed in your phone. With an eSIM, you can choose, download, and activate a new Airtime Plan (sometimes referred to as a SIM plan) from your chosen mobile network provider – without having to swap out your physical SIM. It can be used alongside a physical SIM, which means you can have two phone numbers at the same time.
Why do I need an eSIM for the trial?
eSIMs make it possible for us to provide you with connectivity to our network from wherever you are, without relying on a physical SIM card being delivered. Plus, using an eSIM means you don’t need to worry about taking out or replacing the physical SIM card that’s already in your phone – the eSIM can be used alongside your existing SIM.
You can download and activate your eSIM using the My Vodafone app.
Select ‘start free trial’ to begin, then register your details and create your account – you’ll do this as part of checkout.
Download the My Vodafone app and log in using the account details you just created.

If you’re a Vodafone Home Broadband user, you can still sign up to our Network Trial – just use an alternative email address that you haven't already used with Vodafone. Make sure you’re logged out of your existing account first.
If your email address is or has been associated with Vodafone in the last 7 years, don't worry - you can sign up using an alternative email address.
Yes, you can. You can make and receive calls/texts on both your current number and your trial number at the same time, but your phone can only use one network for mobile data at a time. To take advantage of our Network Trial and the free 50GB we’re providing, we recommend you choose Vodafone as your default data network.
How does making and receiving calls and texts work?
Incoming calls and texts: you’ll be able to receive calls and texts on both numbers
Outgoing calls and texts: during your eSIM set up, you’ll be asked to choose which SIM you’d like to use as default for outgoing calls and texts. On iPhone, you’ll be asked to choose a SIM for iMessage & FaceTime too
You can always switch SIMs before making a call or text, or assign people specific SIMs in your Contacts
How does using data work?
Your phone can only use one network for mobile data at a time
During your eSIM set up, choose your new eSIM as your preferred/default SIM for mobile data
You'll have an option to toggle data switching on - this will allow you to use mobile data from both your networks at the same time
You can change toggle data switching on or off in your phone’s SIM settings at any time during the trial:
For iPhone: Allow Mobile Data Switching
For Samsung: Data switching and backup calling
For other Android phones: Automatic data switching

After the 7 days of your Network Trial are up, your trial plan will end. At this point, you’ll have the option to switch to Vodafone, while keeping your current number.
Explore our Pay monthly SIM Only plans or no-contract Pay as you go Plus plans. Ready for a new phone? You could switch to a Pay monthly handset plan
You won’t be able to buy any extra data, minutes or texts if you use all your free trial allowances before the trial ends.
If you’ve used all your allowances and you want more, you can switch or take out a new Vodafone plan at the end of your 7-day trial.
The easiest way to do this is on the My Vodafone app, under ‘Manage plan’.
