Your phone must be in good working condition. This means:

  • It powers on to the home screen
  • There are no more than three cracks or scratches – if there are any, they can be no longer than 10mm
  • The touchscreen is fully functional, e.g. responds correctly to directional swipes and selecting keyboard letters and apps

Make sure you’ve passed the checks in our Trade-in Tool using the phone you’d like to trade in (your old/current phone). Once you’ve successfully​ completed the Trade-in Tool and your new phone is on its way, we’ll send you a return pack.

In order to get a monthly trade-in saving, your phone needs to be in good condition.

When you select a phone plan with the trade-in saving applied, you’ll see a list of criteria that your old phone needs to meet in order for it to pass our trade-in checks.

You can then use our Trade-in Tool on the My Vodafone app to review the condition of your phone – if it passes our checks, we’ll give you instant confirmation of your guaranteed saving and a return pack will be sent to you once your new phone is on its way.

You complete the Trade-in Tool before you order your new phone, to confirm your old phone can be traded in for a trade-in saving. But we may ask you to repeat this once your phone is on its way.

You’ll need to use our Trade-in Tool to check that your phone is in good working condition and can be traded in.

Once you’ve passed the checks, we’ll send you a return pack. Put your phone in this pack and return it to us within 14 days – using the free, pre-paid postage enclosed in the return pack. Make sure you get proof of postage.

You’ll need to complete the Trade-in Tool using the phone that you’d like to trade in – your old/current phone, which should be in the Galaxy S9 or S10 series.

If you accidentally complete the tool on your new phone, we’ll send you a text to remind you that you need to complete it again on your old/current phone. Please do this within 24 hours to keep your trade-in saving.

Your saving is applied immediately at the point of purchase.

You’ll need to pass the checks in our Trade-in Tool within two days of your purchase. Once you’ve passed our checks and your new phone is on its way, we’ll send you a return pack. Deliveries are taking a little longer than usual right now, due to the pandemic. Your return pack should be with you in around 7 days. You’ll need to send your phone to us in the return pack within 14 days.

If you don’t pass our trade-in checks or return your phone to us within 14 days, your saving will be removed.

Your saving will be applied to your monthly bill for the duration of your 24-month plan.

Don’t worry, you won’t lose out – should you choose to upgrade early with the Annual Upgrade Promise, we’ll credit you with the remaining saving amount.

We can only accept one phone for our promotional trade-in monthly saving. But you can go to Vodafone Trade-in to trade in other devices for a cash payment.

Yes, you can. Once your new phone has arrived, you’ll have 14 days to return your current phone to us. So if you’re returning your phone to us by post, you’ll receive your new phone before you trade-in your current one. 

We recommend that you’re 100% happy with your new phone and plan before returning your old phone to us.

If you’re trading in in-store, we’ll do a swap immediately – so make sure your data is backed up.

If your new phone is currently out of stock and you’re waiting for it to be available, you can keep your current phone until your new one arrives.

Once you’re ready to trade in, you can do so by pre-paid postage, using the return pack we sent you.
 

You can choose not to return your phone to us within the 14-day returns period and we’ll simply remove the saving that was applied to your bill.

When you select a phone plan with the trade-in saving applied, you’ll see a list of criteria that your phone needs to meet in order for it to pass our trade-in checks. So you’ll be made aware in advance if your phone is likely to be accepted. You’ll also be asked to confirm that your phone meets this list of criteria before proceeding.

If your phone didn’t pass the checks carried out with our Trade-in Tool, or isn’t one of the models in the promotion, you can still trade it in for a cash payment.

We’ll send you a text message to confirm that the monthly saving has been removed from your bill, if you’ve already made your purchase with the trade-in saving applied.

Once you reach the ‘Enter your mobile number’ stage of the Trade-in Tool, you’ll need to enter your Vodafone mobile number. This should be the phone number you're using with your new phone.

We’ll send you a link to the Trade-in Tool by email and text, or you can access it on the My Vodafone app through the Assistance menu.

If you’re still struggling to access it, make sure you’re using a Samsung device and the latest version of Android software and My Vodafone app.

If you can’t complete the steps in the Trade-in Tool, come and see us in store where one of our advisers will be able to help you. 

You’ll have 14 days to return your phone to us, so we recommend that you’re 100% happy with your new phone before you trade in your old one.

We can’t return your old phone to you if you’ve already traded it in.

We give you an instant guarantee of your saving on the Samsung Galaxy 21 Series once you’ve completed the Trade-In Tool checks, provided that: (i) your device matches the one you specify in the Trade-In Tool checks and you return that device to us; (ii) your device hasn’t been intentionally damaged; and (iii) you remove any security settings (such as Find My iPhone) from your device.

We expect to reuse at least 5000 devices in other propositions, which will mean we’ll not be destroying/scrapping these devices.

Our previous trade-in process (iPhone 2019 trade-in offer) could take up to four weeks. After receiving their handset, which could take up to one to two weeks, the customer then had 14 days to return their old phone to us, and wait for confirmation of a pass or fail up to three days later.
