Make sure you've passed the checks in our Trade-in Tool using the phone you'd like to trade in (your old phone). Once you've successfully completed the Trade-in Tool and your new phone is on its way, we'll send you a returns pack.
Deliveries are taking a little longer than usual right now, due to the pandemic. Your returns pack should be with you in around seven days.
In order to get a monthly trade-in saving, your phone needs to be in good condition.
At the beginning of your purchase journey, you'll see a list of criteria that your phone needs to meet in order for it to pass our trade-in checks. So you'll be made aware in advance if it can be traded in or not.
You can then use our Trade-in Tool on the My Vodafone app to review the condition of your phone - if it passes our checks, we'll give you instant confirmation of your guaranteed saving. This can be done before or after you check out.
You'll need to use our Trade-in Tool to check that your phone is in good working condition and can be traded in.
Once you've passed the checks, we'll send you a returns pack. Put your phone in this pack and return it to us within 14 days - using the free, pre-paid postage enclosed in the returns pack. Make sure you get proof of postage.
You'll need to complete the Trade-in Tool using the phone that you'd like to trade in - your eligible/old phone.
If you accidentally complete the tool on your new phone, we'll send you a text to remind you that you need to complete it again on your eligible phone. Please do this within 24 hours to keep your trade-in saving.
Your phone needs to be in good working condition in order to trade it in for a guaranteed saving.
Our Trade-in Tool will check that your phone meets all these criteria:
It powers on to the home screen
It has no more than three scratches or cracks - if there are any scratches or cracks, these can be no longer than 10mm
The touchscreen is fully functional, e.g. responds correctly to directional swipes and selecting keyboard letters and apps
Note: Before you send your phone to us, you'll need to turn off Find My iPhone if you have an Apple iPhone or remove your Google account if you have an Android. See our device guides to find out how to do this.
To access our Trade-in Tool, open the My Vodafone app and scroll down to the Assistance menu. Then select Trade in your device.
If you'd like to return your phone to us in store, you’ll be pleased to know we've re-opened our retail stores. Find your nearest store.
Our stores are following Government advice and we've taken all the appropriate measures you'd expect to make our stores as safe as possible for customers and staff.
If you'd prefer not to return your phone to us in-store, you can post it to us using the returns pack we send you.
Yes, you can. You'll have 14 days to return your phone to us. So if you're returning your phone to us by post, you'll receive your new phone before you trade in your old one.
We recommend that you're 100% happy with your new phone and plan before returning your old phone to us.
If you're returning your old phone in store, we'll do a swap immediately. If your new phone is currently out of stock and you're waiting for it to be available, you can keep your current phone until your new one arrives.
Once you're ready to trade in, you can do so either in store or by pre-paid postage using the returns pack we sent you.
You'll have 14 days to return your phone to us, so we recommend that you're 100% happy with your new phone before you trade in your old one.
We can't return your old phone to you if you've already traded it in.
What happens to my old phone once I've traded it in?
We give your old phone a second life. We resell 97% of phones and the rest is recycled.
We'll send you a link to the Trade-in Tool by email and text, or you can access it on the My Vodafone app through the Assistance menu.
If you're still struggling to access it, make sure you're using an eligible Samsung or Apple device with the latest version of software and My Vodafone app
You'll need to re-visit our Trade-in Tool.
Once you reach the 'Enter your mobile number' stage of the Trade-in Tool, you'll need to enter your Vodafone mobile number. This should be the phone number you're using with your new phone.
We’re currently making upgrades to our Trade-In Tool – this will be live and available for customers to use again in the near future.
Your saving is applied immediately at the point of purchase.
You'll need to pass the checks in our Trade-in Tool within two days of your purchase. Once you've passed our checks and your new phone is on its way, we'll send you a return pack. Deliveries are taking a little longer than usual right now, due to the pandemic. Your return pack should be with you in around seven days. You'll need to send your phone to us in the return pack within 14 days.
If you don't pass our trade-in checks or return your phone to us within 14 days, your saving will be removed.
Your saving will be applied to your monthly bill for the duration of your 24-month Airtime Plan.
Don't worry, you won't lose out. Should you choose to upgrade early with the Annual Upgrade Promise, we'll credit you with the remaining saving amount.

Pay Monthly Plans (excluding Home Broadband): Monthly price shown and all out of bundle charges will increase each April by the Consumer Price Index rate published in January of that year, plus an additional 3.9%. If you have a Device Plan, this will not affect your monthly Device Plan payments.
Home Broadband: Monthly price will increase each April by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rate of inflation published in January that year, plus an additional 3.9%. Excludes Pro Xtra Broadband plans currently within there minimum commitment period. Monthly price will increase by £10pm at the end of your 24 month plan (excludes Pro, Pro Xtra and Pro with Alexa plans).

Device plan: means a Consumer Credit Agreement over a period between 12 – 36 months. A Monthly Airtime Plan (Xtra Plan) is required with your Device Plan. Device Plans up to 12 months require either a 12 or 24 month Monthly Airtime Plan. Device Plans over 12 months require a 24 month Monthly Airtime Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Airtime Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly).
Pay for your phone / watch in one go: If you would like to pay for the full cost of your phone / watch upfront, you can do this in one of our stores. You will need to purchase a Monthly Airtime Plan at the same time.
Minutes and texts: to standard mobiles and landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03) and standard SMS in the UK and our inclusive roaming destinations. A one-minute minimum call charge applies.
Data: a 25GB fair roam policy on all Pay monthly plans, for each 30-day period applies in our inclusive roaming destinations.
Unlimited data: available on Unlimited Lite Plan (max download and upload speed of 2Mbps), Unlimited Plan (max download and upload speeds of 10Mbps) and Unlimited Max Plan. Speed may vary by a number of factors.
Roaming: using your home plan in the Republic of Ireland and Isle of Man (Zone A) is included in all of our Pay Monthly plans. For roaming in other destinations, charges will apply depending on which plan you are on. A 25GB roam fair use policy applies for each billing month.

Upgrade from month 12 means:
Buying new Device Plan (which is a Consumer Credit Agreement) and an Airtime Plan; and
paying off the remaining amount on your current Device Plan prior to upgrading.

Unlimited Data Booster plus Inclusive Roaming in 51 European Destinations: 24 month Xtra Plans come with 6 boosts and 12-month plans with 3 boosts. Each boost provides unlimited data for 30 days. Total Care Warranty: 24 month warranty starts from the date of purchase of a handset from Vodafone either on a Device Plan or outright. Warranty only applies to manufacturer faults. Not applicable with Refurbished Phones. Find out more about Vodafone Total Care Warranty
Battery Refresh: applicable for phone devices purchased either on a Device Plan or purchased outright from Vodafone, with a Vodafone Pay Monthly Plan. Is available for the length of the plan (minimum of 2 years and maximum of 3 years). Battery Refresh is not available for phones that have been cracked, smashed or have water damage (damage that would not be covered under a manufacturer warranty) and chargeable repairs can be offered. Smartwatch / Watch Plans
Watch Plans require a Vodafone pay monthly airtime plan and a Connectivity Plan (via Vodafone OneNumber). Lasts for 30 days and will automatically renew every 30 days unless cancelled. Terms apply.

Pay as you go Bundles (Big Value Bundle): Minutes to standard mobiles and landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03), standard texts and data (excluding entertainment packs and Extras) to use in the UK and our Europe Zone. Last 30 days. Automatically renews every 30 days if you have enough credit. Opt out by calling 2345. Pay as you go Bundles are also known as Big Value Bundles.
Total Rollover: Any unused allowance from your current Pay as you go Bundle will only rollover from one bundle to the next, for use in the next 30-day period, if your Pay as you go Bundle renews automatically.
