Call 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone.

  • Top up over the phone on 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go mobile
  • To top up again, text TOPUP to 2345 with the amount you want to add and the last four digits of your payment card (for example, text TOPUP 10 1234 to add £10 using a card ending in 1234)

Top up automatically

It's simple to set up an automatic top up. You can even use it to stay topped up while you're abroad, or to top up someone else's phone.

Just download the My Vodafone app and choose Top up from the main menu and select Auto Top up.

Alternatively, you can call 18829 (free from your Vodafone Pay as you go mobile) from the mobile you want to register and make your initial top up. Then choose how often you want your top up to automatically activate - weekly, monthly or every 30 days.

The easiest way to do so is in the My Vodafone app. From the home screen:

  1. Tap the Credit tile - this will take you to the Top up tab
  2. From there you can choose your Top up amount and the Payment method you want to use.

Alternatively, you can top up online, in-store or by text.

You have the following options for checking your Pay as you go balance:

  1. Download the My Vodafone app to view and manage your data balance
  2. Check online with My Vodafone
  3. Dial *#1345# free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone to see your balance on screen
  4. Call 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone to hear your remaining balance
  5. If you don't have your mobile with you, call the Pay as you go credit line on 03333 048048 from any other UK mobile or landline (standard call charges apply)

You can activate your top up voucher using one of the following options:

  1. In the My Vodafone app
  2. Online at My Vodafone
  3. Call 2345 free from your Vodafone Pay as you go phone

Keep an eye on your usage throughout the month

  1. Use the My Vodafone app to see your usage, previous bills, and your current charges
  2. You can also call 2345 free from your Vodafone mobile to check your remaining balance

Keep an eye out for texts from Vodafone

  1. We'll text you when you're reaching the limit of your allowance
  2. We'll text you again when you've exceeded your allowance
  3. Depending on your plan, you'll receive additional notifications for every 250MB or 500MB used, until you spend £26 on out-of-plan data charges

Tips for controlling your monthly spend

In the My Vodafone app or in My Vodafone online, you can:

  1. Add extra data to your monthly allowance
  2. Move to a different plan which suits you better
  3. Add a cap on your data usage
  4. See our other tips on managing your data usage by changing settings in your apps or device

If you're a Pay as you go customer and just top up your credit rather than buying a Pay as you go Bundle or Freebie Data, you'll pay a daily £2 data charge if you use certain apps, access the internet or check your emails. It'll be taken from your credit if you haven't switched off data on your phone.

Buying a Freebie Data, a Pay as you go Bundle or using Pay as you go 1 could save you money. They all come with data allowances and as long as you haven't used them up, you won't have to pay any daily data charges. If you've downloaded the My Vodafone app and stored your payment card details, you can buy either of these with a couple of taps.

If there are days when you don't want to use data or buy a Pay as you go Bundle or Freebie Data, simply switch data off on your phone. If you're not sure how to, our device guides can show you.

You can find out your balance at any time to see how much credit you have left.

If you've forgotten to do this and your credit's got a bit low, you'll hear a warning message when you start to make an outgoing call.

It's easy to buy a data pack for your Mobile Broadband (MBB) device through the following methods:

  1. Simply buy a data pack in the My Vodafone app
  2. Online at My Vodafone
  3. Pop into a store

Use a voucher to buy a pack

They'll start one after another - your next pack will start as soon the one you're using reaches the end date (after 90 days) or runs out of data.
