Your upgrade date depends on the type of plan you have, and how long you’ve been with us.

Log in to your account to find out when you’re eligible to upgrade and what your options are. You can also view this information in the My Vodafone app 

Firstly, you’ll need to check if you’re eligible. You can do that by logging in to your account or checking the My Vodafone  app

The quickest ways to upgrade are online or by starting a Live chat, but you can also do so in store or over the phone.

  • Online: Log in to your account and take a look at your upgrade options.
  • Chat: Start a live chat with one of our team. To do this, go to our Support site, type 'upgrade' in the bar that says 'Ask us a question', and then in the drop-down message use the 'Chat to us online' button
  • Call: Give us a call free on 191 from your Vodafone mobile
  • In store: Use our store locator to find your nearest Vodafone branch

This depends on the type of plan you have:

Vodafone EVO plans

With our Vodafone EVO plans you will be able to upgrade your Phone Plan or Watch Plan from month three of your current Airtime Plan or Connectivity plan.

Flexi-upgrades

You can upgrade after six months with a Flexi-upgrade if:

  • For phones: You joined or upgraded on, or after, 12 April 2017 to one of our Essentials, Red Extra or Red Entertainment plans
  • For watches: You’re on a combined 24-month Watch and Connectivity plan

Flexi-upgrades don’t apply to Xtra Plans/Vodafone EVO plans.

Flexible upgrades

If you have a SIM only plan, such as a Red plan or an Airtime Xtra Plan which was bought without a Phone Plan, you can upgrade as soon as three months from the start of your plan onto a new Pay monthly Airtime Xtra Plan and Phone Plan. Find out if you're eligible to do so in your account or in the My Vodafone app

If you're a Business customer and you have an Account Manager or Prime Contact, you should discuss your upgrade options with them.

A Flexi-upgrade is an early upgrade and is only available on certain plans. You’ll need to pay an Early Termination Fee (ETF) – the amount will vary depending on how long you have left on your current plan.

You can upgrade after six months with a Flexi-upgrade if:

  • For phones: You joined or upgraded on, or after, 12 April 2017 to one of our Essentials, Red Extra or Red Entertainment plans
  • For watches: You’re on a combined 24-month Watch and Connectivity plan

NOTE: Flexi-upgrades don’t apply to Xtra Plans/Vodafone EVO plans.

Check if you need to swap your SIM

  • If your existing SIM fits your new device, you can keep using it. You can dispose of the inactive replacement SIM we sent you with your upgrade
  • If, however, your current SIM is the wrong size for your new device, you may need to snap out a smaller SIM from your multi-SIM
  • If your current SIM doesn’t fit your device, use the new SIM we sent you with your upgrade, and activate it using this video guide on how to complete a SIM swap
  • If you need a new SIM and we haven’t sent you one yet, we’re sorry – please visit your nearest Vodafone store or contact us to get a replacement SIM

Transfer your content

Please note – if you’re changing SIM because you’re getting a new phone, you’ll have to transfer any content from your old phone to your new one.

CPI: Plan price will increase each April by the Consumer Price Index rate of inflation published in January that year, plus an additional 3.9%. Find out more on price changes

Vodafone EVO: lets you select a Monthly Device Plan Credit Agreement (3-36 months) with a monthly Airtime Plan. The device price will be the same whatever you choose. Device Plans over 12 months require a 24 month Monthly Airtime Plan. You can pay off your Device Plan early, and if you do, you can then keep your Airtime Plan on a 30-day contract or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason, you will need to keep on paying your monthly Device Plan (either in full or monthly). See full terms and conditions

Unlimited data: available on Unlimited Lite Plan (max download/upload speed of 2Mbps), Unlimited Plan (max download/upload speeds of 10Mbps) & Unlimited Max Plan. Speed and coverage may vary by a number of factors. See full terms and conditions

Unlimited minutes & texts: minutes to standard mobiles & landlines (UK: 01, 02, 03) & standard texts (excluding MMS) in the UK & our inclusive roaming destination. A 1-minute minimum call charge applies. See full terms and conditions
