The HMD Fuse features HarmBlock AI****, a first of its kind on-device AI technology that helps prevent explicit* content being seen, created or shared. Alongside this ground-breaking new AI technology, the HMD Fuse also comes with a number of key features, making it a great option for parents who are considering a device for their child:
- A Phone that grows – The HMD Fuse is built to grow with a child. Unlike other child smartphones or adult smartphones, customers can adjust the rules and boundaries for their child and adapt them as they grow up.
- All protection on by default – once HMD Fuse is linked to the parental device during setup, all protections are on by default. There’s no online access, no social apps, no app store, and adding contacts requires approval, essentially starting as a brick phone.
- AI + Privacy – HarmBlock features a totally pre-trained, self-contained AI protection against explicit content. It doesn’t collect, share or ingest user data.
- Contact Whitelisting – Only phone calls and SMS chats with pre-approved phone numbers are enabled. If unknown individuals try to call or text, they simply won’t get through.
- Live Location Tracking – Customers can monitor their child’s whereabouts in real time, with location updates every 24 seconds. This is turned on for 30-minute intervals, so it won’t drain the battery. After that, tracking remains on in the background (at longer intervals).
- Customisable Safe Zones – Set up to 10 designated safe areas and receive alerts when your child enters or leaves these zones.
- Location History – Access a three-day history of your child’s movements to retrace their steps when needed (tracked every five minutes).
In its journey to become the best network for families, Vodafone has launched ‘Connect and Protect’; a brand-new set of tools designed to support parents as they navigate whether to get a phone for their child and choosing the right one.
Bringing everything together in one place, the tools help to guide parents through the challenging milestone of deciding whether their child might be ready for a phone – with expert advice from NSPCC – as well as which type could suit them best. Whether it’s a feature phone or a smartphone, the resources help parents consider the options available with confidence.
The journey continues with Secure Net – the best set of parental controls from any major UK network*******. Secure Net Mobile is provided free for three months, and £1.30 per month thereafter, to anyone taking a new Vodafone mobile line. Parental control features include customisable content filters, bedtime settings, and digital downtime controls.
