¹ HarmBlock AI blocks explicit sexual content and nudity. Testing by SafeToNet reached up to 95% weighted accuracy. Actual results may vary. See more information

HarmBlock+ combines parental control features with the HarmBlock AI content filter. These are managed on the guardian’s device through the HarmBlock+ app and applied on the child’s HMD Fuse phone.

With HarmBlock+, you can track your child’s location, screen time, step count, and configure features such as School Mode, Bedtime Mode, app usage limits, contact permissions, timers, and notifications. You can also control HarmBlock AI through the app.

Each HMD Fuse device comes with the HarmBlock+ Junior app, which gives a clear overview of key HarmBlock+ service features, as well as the settings configured by the guardian.

No, the HarmBlock+ app for guardians has the same features across the iOS and Android™ versions.

HarmBlock+ and Google Family Link can both be used on the HMD Fuse, but in most cases, HarmBlock+ already covers all the key features.

If you’re using both, set up HarmBlock+ first and skip the Google account setup. Once linked to the parent device, you can add Family Link. Disable its app management feature to avoid interference with HarmBlock+.

Family Link blocks HarmBlock+’s remote factory reset – unpair the phone first, then reset with Family Link.

No, HarmBlock+ is deeply integrated into the HMD Fuse device and can’t be bypassed by using VPN services.

HarmBlock is an AI-based visual classifier designed to detect nudity in images, videos, and live-streams. Its purpose is to help prevent the viewing, creation, and sharing of nude imagery on your child’s smartphone in real time. It focuses on prevention but can’t guarantee 100% accuracy. With barriers in place, HarmBlock AI greatly reduces the chances of children being exposed to nudity on their HMD Fuse.

HarmBlock AI detects images and videos that contain nudity and prevents them from being captured by the camera or displayed on screen. It also scans the phone’s storage and deletes files that contain such imagery.

There are two layers of protection against capturing nude content on HMD Fuse.

When any app activates the camera, HarmBlock AI monitors the feed and blocks nudity with an overlay. During normal use (e.g. browsing or viewing photos), it blocks detected nudity in under a second. If users try to capture, record, or stream such content, the video or photo output will be covered.

As a second layer of protection, it continuously scans and deletes nude images from the phone’s storage. If a nude photo is captured before the overlay activates, HarmBlock AI will remove it.

During video calls, HarmBlock AI blocks both the screen and the outgoing feed with an overlay if nudity is detected from the camera. If another participant displays nudity, their video feed will be blocked.

HarmBlock AI scans the HMD Fuse’s storage and automatically deletes photos and videos with nude content. The child is notified of each deleted file and can view a log of scanned and deleted items. This information isn’t shared with the guardian through the HarmBlock+ app.

In SafeToNet’s mobile user testing, HarmBlock AI achieved a weighted average accuracy of up to 95% in identifying explicit sexual and nude content. While highly accurate, no AI model is perfect, and performance may vary in real-life conditions.

On the HMD Fuse, HarmBlock AI is built directly into the device’s operating system. It can detect and block nudity across all installed apps, even those that are end-to-end encrypted.

For now, HarmBlock AI is focused on preventing children from seeing, sharing and creating imagery containing nudity. In the future, additional content categories might be added.

Yes, you can. The HMD HarmBlock+ app gives you complete control over what apps your child can use, so you can ensure they only have access to safe and age-appropriate content.

Yes, it allows your child to call or send SMS only between whitelisted contacts. However, third-party apps (such as WhatsApp, Snapchat and Instagram) aren’t supported with the whitelisted contacts, so communication through those apps won't be blocked.

Yes, you can see your child’s location and choose to track it in real time for 30-minute intervals. You can also view your child’s location history from the past three days. On top of this, you can create up to ten safety zones and get notifications when you child enters or leaves those zones.

No, HarmBlock+ doesn’t provide visibility into browsing content or send notifications about it.
